One of the struggles we are going to be facing this year is with keeping our equilibrium whilst the media continues to fill the headlines with fearful messages of uncertainty and potential negative outcomes. If you could see visibly the negative and destructive energy that emanates from this sort of unenlightened nay saying, it would appear dense but have a permeating quality about it. That sort of news does actually pollute the inner world, literally. Presidential or political reporting has much the same energy about it, dense, destructive, hateful, and willing to do anything to win a vote. That sort of energy wants us to think ourselves synonymous with it: harsh, critical, willing to judge, have the last word, etc.
The fact is the old structures that have held the show together so far, are withering. Unsustainable economic and eco-exploitative living, accumulating debt, unemployment and home foreclosures, richer countries sucking the life out of other less well developed countries, richer countries seeking to protect their assets by not paying fair taxes, the middle east crisis generating an uncertain future for the inhabitants of the region, they are all emanations from the collective divided mind; limited egoic thought forms. These thought forms are illusions. True thoughts from the healed collective unconscious mind are suffused with Divine Grace and Love. Saying all this might sound a bit depressing. But to depress you is not my intention.
As this week proceeds many in the USA have celebrated and honoured the memory of Martin Luther King and his vision of what his own country could become: “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.” This is an example of a man thinking with the ‘right mind’ seeing beyond the idiocies of party politics, self interest and social inequality. He sees into the life we can co create as children of Light. This life is neither communist nor Republican, Labour nor Conservative but is a hope emerging from a shared vision from our true collective unconsciousness mind, that honours creativity, sees all as equally valid and important, which does not look down on weakness as something to be despised or ignored and which seeks to put to work all of the many diverse gifts of the children of God.
2012 is a year of energetic shifts. Political systems although wanting to keep in place the face of the old system of self interest, will find this increasingly more difficult to maintain. The collective psyche is now erupting because the more masculine archetypes such as kingship and power (and other more masculine symbols) need to yield to the softer aspects of the psyche, including maternal energy, the Goddess, and other forms of holistic gentleness. The balance is essential. Any system where inner forces or drives are not held in equilibrium and equality will fall into tyranny. Martin Luther King embodied some of the best of masculine and feminine qualities and his embodiment of these were just too much for the dominating forces of his time.
The brute force aspects of the economic machine will want to continue to divide and conquer in order to keep things as they are. Those who hold the greatest interest in maintaining the status quo will fight to keep things unchanged. They will want the war machine to continue, and for countries to be dependent on their influence. Those who have worked hard to grasp the largest portion of the earth’s resources, no matter what the cost, know that their time of exploitation is teetering. Their illusions are at risk. We must not hate these misguided brothers, but need pray for their enlightenment and illumination. The world we want to see emerge will not be built on force, indoctrination or fear. These are thought forms that are unreal and impermanent. Remember what the Course in Miracles says of what is unreal:
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.
This year, regularly come together in your homes in groups and meditate, pray, send love into the world. Seek to send that energy into your local neighbourhood problems too, to try and start infusing the more feminine qualities of the mind into the world. Take time each day to reflect on your thoughts, and extend compassionate forgiveness to yourself for reacting to life at times. The need for communities to come together prayerfully is important for this year. The energy of the times right now tends to deplete and exhaust us in the work place, and we have little energy for much else. Coming together will infuse us, I can promise you. One of the messages I took away from the phenomena of Medjugorge, a place in the former Yugoslavia where the vision of the Virgin Mary appears, was that our spiritual actions –our prayers, meditations, and intentions-can stop wars from happening and suspend natural laws. When scientists were examining Medjugorge back in the 1990s they found that whilst people were engaged in intense prayer in the Church, their measuring equipment for radiation went off the wall. Had this been radioactive energy, everyone in the church would have been dead; however, what their prayers created was energy beyond anything we can humanly explain. There have been numerous studies about the efficacy of prayer and intention on the world and on particular environments, troubled by violence or crime. Many of the prayer studies have shown consistently that intention can transform the physical world.
We have more power than we can imagine transforming the world. Don’t get stuck in limited beliefs that nothing can change. It can, and it will. And we will birth the better world one day. These are going to be difficult and complex times, but we need hold strong and be faithful. Love will triumph in the end.
Born to Mary Elizabeth and Terence Anthony, Brendan was from a young age aware of being profoundly intuitive, possessing a deeply curious and spiritual nature. In later adolescence he felt called towards a religious vocation and spent some time with a contemplative order. At the age of 21 he studied Theology at Plater College, Oxford, and was a keen reader of the mystics Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross and Martin De Pores. As a child he experienced clairvoyance, perceived spirit, could see the auric energy field surrounding the human person and had many precognitive dreams. His mother and maternal grandmother were both highly intuitive women, the latter was revered for her healing role to sick people in her rural Irish village.
Due to the impact of two successive significant bereavements, and then at the advice of a psychic medium, he began to develop his intuitive gifts to the full.
Previously trained as a social worker, his intuitive gifts had helped him in the demanding role of a family and mental health practitioner and latterly in the field of hospice and palliative care. Professionalism and integrity in working with clients have always been uppermost qualities for him in his work. Brendan underwent formal intuitive development through participating in an advanced development circle with the Institute of Psychic Development, run by international teacher, Heidi Sawyer. He has also undertaken training in shamanic healing practices with the Sacred Trust UK. He is a graduate of Applied Social Sciences, Advanced Mental Health Studies, Theology and is a qualified Integrative Counsell
