What’s the latest concern amongst Corporate Wellness gurus? Besides America’s Top Ten Health Risks, you know, Smoking Cessation, Weight Management, et al., the largest, looming concern is “Corporate Burnout”. How long did we think we could work those 80 work weeks, ignoring self, family, and friends? I thought technology was going to ease our workaholic tendencies, but the contrary seems true.
And the real irony for me, if you believe Michael Moore’s facts in his latest movie about healthcare in America, is that the country with unlimited sick days, with government subsidized helpers for new moms, with more vacation time than any American worker will likely see, with doctors making house calls, also has the HIGHEST productivity amongst industrialized nations. How can this be? Is it possible that well-being does lead to higher profits? Corporate America are you listening? Here’s to the Good Life, Mr. Moore!
Now, what do corporate executives need to avert or remedy their burnout status? How do you go from “complete disconnect” to “rejuvenated dynamo”? This is under much diligent scrutiny today! Ironic. But the good news is that Corporate Burnout is even being addressed! How many casualties do we need to implement meaningful changes?
Fortunately, our agenda here is just reviewing what solution works best for this current malaise. It’s entirely possible that this could lead to better choices by the executives who conquer the challenge and strategically change the way we do business. So what are the key ingredients in this recicpe?
Step one is surely correctly identifying an executive’s “problem” as burnout. Next, we need to take inventory of the overall lifestyle and workload. This requires a willingness on the part of management to do so. Then, there are several must-dos that bring the best results once the solution is ready to be administered.
What seems most enjoyable is the Life Makeover aspect of this solution. “The Rejuvenation Solution for Corporate Burnout” which I’ve developed after years of study and practice in the field, is multi-faceted. There are many components in this comprehensive program that will most swiftly accomplish the results.
Firstly, a retreat which focuses on relaxing and renewal, lasting 3-7 days is ideal. Next, an intensive which lasts up to a month, takes a closer look at the details of one’s life. From there, a work-life balance coaching program can assist in the behavioral changes necessary to restore the executive’s ability to stay on top of their agenda. If not, the problems, already familiar, will likely return.
So if you or someone you know is suffering from corporate burnout, you now have a sense of what direction to take.
