There is a theory that if one can keep the body in an alkaline state, one cannot get cancer. This can be determined by urine ph test-strips, bought at the local pharmacy or on the internet. Ph ranges from 0-14 with 0 being acid and 14 being alkaline. The ideal number is around 7 or a little above. Test the first morning urine for best results.

An alkaline state can be accomplished through nutrition. The first and best method is to eat as green as possible in the fruit and vegetable groups. Steamed lightly (just to warm, don’t over cook) or raw, as much as possible. Next, in the fruit and vegetable group, eat as colorful as possible, again raw or steamed. Fill the plate 2/3 full of these antioxidant foods which fight free-radicals that cause cancer. You can not eat too much of these.

Next, keep acid-forming foods to a minimum. Google on the internet “acid and alkaline foods”. Concentrate on the alkaline foods and keep acid-forming foods to a minimum, such as protein. If not pregnant, lactating, or healing a surgical wound, the protein portion is best at the size of the palm of the hand or a deck of cards, 2-3 times/day.

Use whole grains and avoid white flour and sugar, which are acid-forming. A high-complex carbohydrate diet tends to quell a sweet-tooth. After following this program, sugar may taste too sweet. Allow for an occasional treat.

Also, keep saturated fat to a minimum, 5% or less of the total diet. Use mono- and polyunsaturated fats: organic, cold-pressed flax oil with lignans, olive oil, and canola oil. 20-30% of the diet would be adequate. Avoid Trans-fats, hydrogenated and partially-hydrogenated fat. Avoid preservatives and other chemicals as much as possible. Preservatives lie about the freshness, a.k.a. usefulness, of your food. Things spoil for a reason.

Antioxidant supplements are highly recommended in a good nutrition program. Vitamins A, B-complex (contains folic-acid-essential in fighting cancer), C, D, & E. Another potent antioxidant is alpha-lipoic acid. Acetyl-l-carnitine, l-cysteine, selenium, calcium and magnesium citrate and COq10 are also highly recommended. Capsules and gel caps are best, since tablets may pass through unabsorbed unless chewed or crushed.

Following this type of program will flood the body with antioxidants which fight free-radicals that cause cancer. One will experience a renewed sense of vigor and strength. If possible, exercise is very important in purging the body of toxins. Raising a sweat 20-30 minutes as often as one is able is recommended. This will also give a sense of vigor and helps improve mood, also essential in fighting cancer.
