"Showing up intimately" - what does it mean? What definition can be bestowed upon these words that carry a meaning so diverse that it is used with abandon so often? Even the dictionary sees it as "closely personal". Are you able to let yourself be seen by another personally? Isn't this what love is all about?

The showing up that I am referring to is the act of being present, allowing yourself to be seen, the art of communication that begins with an open heart and ends with understanding and the power of your presence. it is this intimacy that allows another to see you so deeply that they love you for being you. Each of these offerings is distinct from each other and totally combined. When you offer the inner you, the idea of yourself that is sometimes afraid to be seen, you request another to love you truly rather than the self that you might pretend to be.

If you are seen, then you ARE communicating and your presence is being assessed by those who are able to see you. If you are truly communicating, you are giving of yourself in an act of true love rather than the hope that someone else will love you and make you feel better about yourself. If you are communicating, you are being seen through your words and are presenting yourself in a verbal way if communicating verbally; in a written way if communicating through the written word and physically if you are communicating with your body. If you stand in the power of your presence, you are allowing yourself to be seen and that communicates your message with great clarity. This is THE key to practicing the art of love in your life.

Is there a reason why someone would not wish to be seen? Or perhaps it would be more appropriate to say that someone would not wish to be truly seen. Perhaps he or she is timid, shy or introspective due to childhood conditioning and reproach. Perhaps he or she is having a rough time at that period of life and does not wish to share it with anyone for fear of being misunderstood. Or perhaps it has become a habit to not be seen and let others expose their presence while viewing from afar so as to remain in an illusion of safety. There can be many reasons, yet each one is based in fear and the inability to drop the mask of pretense in a manner that will allow for union rather than separation. When the heart is seeking for the union of love, the power of true presence is the greatest attractor.

Each day, in every way, each being on this earth is being asked to "show up". The power of presence that an individual carries is his or her signature vibration and that frequency belongs only to that individual. Only he or she carries the ability to say the words that he or she thinks and feels, communicate the ideas he or she is inspired to relate and only he or she may take up the space that belongs to that being in this realm. It is an individual capacity that belongs only to that one. So, one would ask - why hide it? Why keep hidden the depths of one's heart, the glad tidings of the soul in each day's portrayal of life, the questions that arise during the day and the yearnings that come in the quiet of the night dream time? Why, indeed?

If each being is asking for the end of separation, then each being must show up, be present, communicate and join in union with each other being to form the whole of which he or she is an integral part. Whatever you know, whatever you feel, whatever you think can only be communicated by your presence - by physical presence or by written presence. The communication is made, nonetheless. It is this intimacy, or into-me-see, that allows another person to align with another deeply and truly. Your true presence allows another to see into you.

Showing up allows you to be present; it allows you to be visible to others and it allows you to see yourself. Because in the act of communication, you must also hear or read the words and then you must know yourself ever more grandly. How could it not be? Perhaps that is another reason not to show up. Perhaps it is easier not to know yourself than to be faced with the illusion of you in the words of your mouth or hand.

It is so easy to choose not to be present, not to show up. It is especially easy when one lives in the past or the future because then showing up is nearly an impossibility. The belief in that impossibility then lends credence to the feeling of being unloved and unnoticed. You can only show up in the present - so if there is a drifting into the past or a longing or foreboding toward the future - then showing up, being present is not possible. Love exists in the present. It is a present tense emotion. It is only possible in the Now Moment. So if you feel sometimes that you are not completely "all there" perhaps it is because you have not shown up. You are living in a different time and space and therefore you are not present. In this space, it is impossible to know intimacy.

It is showing up that is owed to each other. It is in sharing the words, feelings and thoughts of your heart that you become acquainted with another and therefore bring yourself ever closer and more clearly into Union with the Divine. There is no greater intimacy available to anyone on earth. If not seen in the reflection of another or within your heart, where will you find that Divine thread that urges you forward. The connection of your presence with the presence of another creates that Divine Union and thus the Spirit is present with you both.

Show up for your life. Show up for each other. Show up for the Beloved within your heart - the One Heart - and live in the presence of your moment to moment Divinity. Allow yourself to be seen.
