I was reading some interesting articles on the Law of Attraction recently and thought could this help those who are pursuing a visa and a new life? Could you really use the law of attraction to help achieve your dream lifestyle? It’s an interesting and exciting thought but what is all this law of attraction stuff about anyway?
According to Wikpedia the phrase “Law of Attraction” is a controversial theory commonly associated with New Age and New Thought theories which determines "like attracts like". Our thoughts (conscious and unconscious), emotions, beliefs and actions attract corresponding positive or negative experiences. The phrase is closely associated with new thought beliefs and practices, which were popularized by the 2006, film The Secret.
To put it simply, there are those who believe that we attract whatever we choose to give our attention to be it wanted or unwanted. Everything in the universe is there for us, all we have to do is think it into our life. If you think predominantly negative thoughts then you will attract all things negative and vice versa. So let’s apply this concept to a migration situation and see what we get.
Here are some of the most common concerns expresses by migrants;
• obtaining a visa
• making new friends
• finding work
These worries and concerns are normally expressed as “I just don’t think we will settle in our new home”, I just don’t seem to be able to make any friends”, or “I’ll never find work out there”. Thinking this way, according to the law of attraction, will only attract a lack of those items into your life.
Migrants tend to carry huge amounts of excess baggage deep in their subconscious mind. We all have fears as we step into the unknown and this is what we predominantly attract into our lives when we migrate. I remember sitting in Terminal 3 waiting for my flight thinking “what am I letting myself in for” the fear of the unknown can be quite overwhelming and no doubt many have also felt this as well. However according to the law of attraction these thoughts are attracting the very things we fear we will meet when we arrive at our destination; no friends, no job etc. This is the law of attraction - what you think and believe is what you get because your subconscious mind creates your reality and it does this by responding to your thoughts and beliefs. Change those and you can change your life.
Sounds powerful stuff but how can this be applied to helping you with your migration? Well unfortunately you will still have to apply for the visa sorry you can’t get out of that. But if you can change your thoughts and beliefs you can change your life!
This will require some practice on your part but you must be positive and believe that what you are thinking will really happen. This is not the same as hoping which carries some doubt with it. You must truly desire this item and have faith in yourself that you will achieve it. There is simply no room for second thoughts whatsoever, be sure of what you want because you may well get it!
Migrating to a new country is a bit of an unknown quantity as you cannot be sure of what to expect. This in turn can cause some doubts which we really don’t want if we are to practice the art of the law of attraction. As mentioned earlier you get what you ask for like it or not. The trick for you here is to come up with positive ways to think about your forth coming adventure. Many of us speak in negative terms all the time and just don’t realise it, it’s a habit and a bad habit that needs to be broken. To break a negative habit will take practice, after all it’s taken you years to perfect it! To start with try to discuss what you will be doing or experiencing in a positive way such as “there are so many opportunities out here” or “everyone is so friendly here its easy to make new friends”. Believe you will find work, believe you will make friends and it will happen. Apply this to all your thoughts and you will find your life will start to change in quite a dramatic way.
Be prepared to accept what you are asking for don’t let such thoughts as how will I coup with this, will I like my new job, get in the way. Whatever faces you in your new country believe you can deal with it when the time arises and you must remember to banish all negative thought.
Now build a mental picture of all these good thoughts, use visualisation to picture yourself living the life you believe is waiting for you in your new country. Feel the warm sunshine, hear the birds, feel the sand on the beach use all your senses and build mental picture as though it were the real thing.
To have the opportunity to migrate is a very fortunate position to be in, so be grateful for what you are about to achieve many do not have that chance, so be positive and enjoy it.
To your success!
