Authenticity; Recall to Source
by Linda Willows
I question whether it is possible to “achieve” authentic happiness, passion and love. A friend of mine sent a note wishing for me, that I achieve true “Authentic Happiness, Love and Passion. I paused as I read, stumbling a bit over the words because I could not envision how something Authentic could be “achieved”! The notion of achieving implied an effort made in resistance to another, or the overcoming of one energy by another and this, I felt could never have anything to do with Authenticity.First I take a deep look at the beauty of the word, Authenticity. It offers effortless clues to its nature just in its namesake. The Greek derivative “authentes” means master, which implies authority or source of directive over a domain. The Sanskrit derivative is “sonoti” which means- he gains. The current Merriam Webster Dictionary describes it to mean “true to ones spirit or made the same as the original”. I can see a connection that runs throughout each of these. The source of a thing, or domain is the Original and if something is truly Authentic it gains, or recreates the nature of its source.
In this context, Authentic happiness, love and passion would not be achieved; they would be recreated to reveal the nature of their source. If the nature of their source is true to ones spirit as with the case of happiness, love and passion does the Authenticity point to something whose nature is permanent or temporal?
We say, "Is it Real”, meaning is it authentic. We have expectation that what we know as Real is of a permanent nature and will not pass away? How many things in our lives, experience and hearts can we truly say are Authentic? Perhaps we can measure our answer by looking to the source of each thing’s authenticity and ask the simple question, “What has authored this; what gives this permanence; what is it in the nature of this that recreates the nature of its Source with perfection?
If we ask these things of Happiness, Passion and Love begin to look deeper and find that we must also allow ourselves to think and feel with a truthfulness that is willing to bare the ego. We may find ourselves challenged to redefine not only words but ourselves as well in relationship to their nature and expression in our lives.
Passion is a wonderful attribute to examine. Authentic Passion would generate quite a dynamic, uplifting and positively charged world which would have unlimited capacity for potent action and the construction of a future that one could only fathom. Yet this Authenticity would require surrender of what we understand as the desire associated with passion to one of a deeper more transcendent kind. A small flame does not last; even a torch held steadfast will one day die out. What is needed is a form of Passion that is a Master itself, one that reflects the nature of its Source; the passion of divine creation marked by will-to be and courageous action.
Authentic Love would create and gain rather than contain. Because its nature contains duality, its reflection of Source would create the gain of a third and greater permanent entity in its Mastery, one born of Love. As Love, this Authentic energy moves outward, in motion creative similar to its Source.
Authenticity; recall of the Source, Essence and the subsequent allowance of its Being creates a combustion of energy which stirs life forward, outward and compels its reflection as does creative birth. It is regard for truth; it reveals the essential nature of that which is examined. So it is with Love. If one truly loves, Authenticity pulls forth the energies of its Source and the Triune Eclipse affects not only ourselves but also the world around us in a positive and uplifting way. We would, through becoming authentic, bear witness to the birth of a unity, the core shared self, gained by all, given to all, magnified by all.
We are Authenticity, Itself, yet have only to remember, re-Identify with our most True Nature and align with that which is the Author of our Being. I cannot "achieve" what already is True, nor will myself towards that which is at the Core of all that I hold onto. Authenticity is the recovery, the return, as one that remembers the way home at last-of my awareness and purest love to the Source of Truth.
