That moment of oneness when you first begin to feel that someone else might be connected to you in ways you have dreamed of ~ isn't that what you believe love is all about?
There is something much more tangible than that fleeting feeling. It is a recognition that you and this other person are not so much *other*; rather, the two of you combine in so many ways.
Here are a few tips to assist you in accessing the first encounter:
1. Do you feel like you could talk with this person forever and you know he or she is really listening? If you don't, stop right now because it is not going to change.
2. Do you want to really hear what the other person is telling you about him or herself and you find it striking instant cords of recognition within you? If you find yourself drifting into thinking about other items on your mental *laundry list*, you will find that you will also drift in the relationship should you continue.
3. Are you enjoying this person's company? In other words, are you doing something in that moment that is leading to increased attraction between you? If not, why are the two of you in the environment in which you find yourselves? What are the two of you looking for that you are hoping to find there? Whatever the answer may be, know that the seeking mode is not the finding mode. You must first be that which you are seeking to find it.
4. Are you listening for a sign that this person is going to give you what you want in life? If so, this is not love. It is the hope of getting something for yourself and that will always fail. No one can fulfill the wishes and dreams you have for yourself. He or she can be part of those dreams, yet is not making those dreams come true. You are.
These few tips are at the top of the list for items to keep in the back of your mind the next time you meet someone with whom you might have a unique relationship. They are certainly not the only items, simply ones that are important as you begin this new adventure. Remember, always be true to who you are first and foremost. The Universe will take care of the rest.
