What is it about giving up that provides temporary relief of obstacles? Obstacles have a very important role in helping us stay focused and committed to our goals. I believe that obstacles are meant to help us strengthen our resolve to win. Winning is the objective, isn’t it? So what happens when you give up? Why do our minds find it so convenient to quit when the going gets tough?

Many are of the illusion that life is supposed to be easy. It’s not. The difficult fact it that life is hard for everyone. The main ingredient to all successful people is they are unwilling to ever give in to the stress and pressures of life. When setbacks and disappointments occur (as they will from time to time) this is the time to strengthen your resolve to win. It is never alright to give up on your dreams and goals. How will you know what you can achieve if you give up before you win? Billionaire philanthropist and Presidential candidate H. Ross Perot said, “Most people stop digging three feet from the goldmine.” Wow!!

In your personal life, what are the goldmines you are digging for? For some it may be to develop a strong family life, for others to start that business. Whatever your personal goldmine is, I ask you to develop the drive to say, “The hell with obstacles.” I know there is nothing we can do to permanently rid ourselves of obstacles. However, we can be so thick skinned that we refuse to allow our obstacles stop us. That is what I’m asking of you today. I’m asking you to have the attitude that you will not quit three feet from your goldmine. I’m asking you to persist till the end.

Success is available to everyone, including you. The only thing that can hinder your success ultimately is you. When bad things come to us, we must creatively find a way to overcome them. We can do it. Bishop T.D. Jakes says “the fact that you have a dream is the evidence that you have what it takes to achieve it.” With that said, never allow anyone or anything to cause you to stop digging for your personal goldmine. Success in any area of your life is totally possible for you if you will never give up.
