One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: To rise above the little things." -John Burroughs-

Here we are a few days into the New Year, and most of us are still looking at our list of resolutions and seeing if we can mark any off as completed. Now that is if you put some sort term goals on there, I always but at least three short term goals on my list as I love to cross items off of my lists, it makes me feel like I have accomplished something and that gives me fuel to continue on.

Another question I have is: how do we know what a "little" thing is when we are in the mists of what "feels" like a big thing. Of course, there is always that thing we call hindsight, but when we are knee deep in that "big" thing, it is really hard to view it as little. So out comes all the things to trick our mind into positive thinking and positive projecting, like affirmations, meditating, taking a deep breathe and letting it out slowly, go for a walk, sit in the sun with our eyes closed and just listen; do these for 3 to 5 minutes and back to being centered you will become.

Definition of little: not big; not important; short in duration

Definition of thing: state of affairs; a product of work or activity; object; dream; goal

So a little thing could be stated to be: not big state of affairs; not important product of work or activity; short in duration of a goal, so with that in mind we can just learn to rise above these less than deserving events, keep our mind on our big goals or resolutions and leave the minutia out of our lives.

Here is my encouragement to you and my challenge to you, keep your resolution list handy and refer to it often, keep your intention on completing them and every day do one thing towards that goal, it doesn't matter how big it is, just that you do it, keep a daily journal and write in it every day everything you did to assist you to reach your goal.
