How To Become An Infopreneur

An Infopreneur is someone who makes money providing information online in the form of a blog or website.

I unknowingly became one when I started my first site - www.thebodyworker.com. I started this site because I had been collecting all of the information I would need to start a massage apprenticeship program. It was a hobby. I all of a sudden became a writer with no background in writing, computers or websites for that matter.

To become an infopreneur, you need to begin with researching a site concept - what information do you know a lot about or what topic. There are many free online tools to help you get an idea of what people are searching for (what is in demand) and what topics do not have many websites with that purpose or if they are they are not very well done. In other words you need to research what the demand for your information is and compare it to how much information is already out there to determine the concepts profitability.

If you don't think you don't have anything to write about - think again. It is probably just your self-defeating ego talking to you taking you away from what you love once again. Everything can be turned into a site concept - it is just a matter of learning to 'spin' it into your own niche.

Then the question is to start planning how you will make money

Will you use Google Adsense or other pay per click programs that let you put ads on your site so when visitors click them - you get paid?

Will you write an ebook and sell it?

Will you promote other products or ebooks or digital products and make a commission on doing so like many associate or affiliate programs that are very popular online?

Once you get some ideas for a topic and how you would make money, you need to do some further keyword research and plan your site using those keywords to start with. The keyword research will also go into helping you choose the best domain name for your website. Your domain name should include your site concept or other words to describe what you want readers to do or know.
