The Egyptian queen Cleopatra used opiates and perfumes to seduce her many lovers. In ancient Rome, love potions of all kinds were sold publicly, in the forums and on the streets. The use of food to inspire healthy and happy moods appears in every culture of the world from the Tibetan Ginseng to the African Yohimbe.
Even with the vast history and worldwide practice of how food affects a person, there is a great deal of controversy surrounding the use of food and herbs to improve romance. Science can't begin to see the correlation between food, romance, and sensual stimuli. Controversy aside, if you take a realistic look at the results of certain substances you will see how those substances can enhance and heighten your all ready established romantic or sensual attraction.
Chocolate induces "feel good" chemicals that are released in the brain, increasing a happy mood. Of course you are going to feel more loving when you feel good. Spicy foods raise your blood pressure and create heat which will also warm up your mood. You get the idea. Certain ingredients create certain enhancing effects and that can be a powerful tool when it comes to matters of creating, sustaining, and deepening romantic pursuits!
Here are just a few of the most popular food to help enhance intimate times with our partner:
Almonds. The almond is one of the oldest known aphrodisiacs and fertility symbol. Almonds even gained mention in the Bible as Samson courted Delilah with fragrant almond branches. The aroma of the almond is known to arouse women. That's one reason why you'll find so many soaps and bath products that contain the scent of almond. Almonds are a protein powerhouse. They are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants which will increase your vitality for love and life.
Apple. This is probably the most famous food in historic traditions from Eve to Sleeping Beauty. Apples are one of the most popular fruits in the world. At present there are at least 7,500 different varieties that vary in shape, color, texture, firmness, crispness, acidity, juiciness, sweetness, nutritional value, and harvesting period. There are many good reasons why eating an apple a day will keep the doctor away. Those same reasons will create some very healthy sensual pleasures. In fact, just leaving a bowl of apples out can give the romantic mood a boost as they are a visual stimulant as well.
Celery. Celery contains an arousing male hormone called androsterone. They believe androsterone is released through perspiration after eating. Your partner may not actually smell it on you, but it will help create the craving to cuddle more. Celery is also a low-calorie, fiber-rich food that helps cleans your teeth and freshens your breath which helps you feel more attractive.
Chocolate. The Aztecs referred to chocolate as "Nourishment of the Gods". Chocolate contains chemicals thought to effect neurotransmitters in the brain and a related substance to caffeine called theobromine. It also contains phenylethylamine, a stimulant similar to the chemical our bodies release during sex. That will give you a major head start on any serious seduction and is one reason why chocolate is the absolute best seller of all time for romantic holidays of all types.
Honey. This food is as old as written history, dating back to 2100 B.C. where it was mentioned in Sumerian and Babylonian cuneiform writings, the Hittite code, and the sacred writings of India and Egypt. It was also mentioned frequently in the Bible. The Bible referred to honey as a wholesome food, a helpful medicine, an ingredient of delicious drinks, an appropriate gift and a valued possession. The use of honey as an aphrodisiac is mentioned in both the books, Kama Sutra and The Perfumed Garden.
All of these foods are very common and can be used in many recipes or on there own to help boost any romantic interlude. The true art form of using food as a relationship enhancement tool is to encompass all your other senses as well. Chocolate covered strawberries are a wonderful aphrodisiac on there own, but add sensual smelling candles, soft music, and a comfortably heated environment and you’re on the way to a wonderfully intimate occasion!
