Having facilitated hundreds of trances, my area of expertise focuses upon the more transpersonal aspects of hypnosis: a client’s intimate experience of the divine. Past life regression, spirit guide communication and chakra alignment exemplify the transpersonal. Experiencing such processes, one embarks upon a journey into Self. As events occurring in all fields of human consciousness contribute to one’s spiritual gestalt, understanding one’s dreams is also paramount.

Transpersonal hypnosis employs the traditional countdown protocol. Once, however, one has established a safe place as a resource fallback position, one can, with the assistance of the therapist, proceed to one’s sacred place. Sacred places vary greatly from one individual to the next (and even from session to session) and represent one’s deepest sense of the divine.

Agreeing to meet with me for her first trance induction, a client named Lena Lees clearly stated her trance goal. Her desire was to receive guidance on how to refine her college graduation thesis, to get a better idea of how her final project would take shape.

That first trance session proved to be legendary as a spiritual epiphany. It was the first of twenty-eight sessions in which Lena demonstrated the astounding ability to channel the wisdom of Eastern Goddess of Compassion, Kuan Yin. A strict scientific interpretation of human consciousness cannot sufficiently explain what happened to my client during the year 2004.

Throughout history there have been crossroads, times and cultures wherein emergent speakers: visionaries and healers, through prayer or trance, establish a direct channel with spirit. What might be the reasons for such a connection? Sometimes it is karmic. The channel may have known the spirit personality in another life. They may also have some unfinished business together, a karmic need to once again meet. Another possible reason is the channel’s sincere desire to know truth. Such focused intent influences, indeed attracts, a muse or entity from the other side.

So strong was Lena’s intent to meet with Kuan Yin, that from her earliest hypnosis session, she could effortlessly contact and converse with the deity. While Lena often doubted that Kuan Yin would ever again visit with her, the deity never once failed to manifest: “Kuan Yin is energy manifested into form. She comes to me because of my intention and hers. My intention to meet her created her.” A Lena Lees quote from The Living Word of Kuan Yin Yin

As it was Kuan Yin who relayed Her scriptures through psychic channel Lena Lees, my main role was that of transcriber and compiler. Thus was manifested the work: The Living Word of Kuan Yin. Still, Ms. Lees insisted that my presence assisted in the Kuan Yin channelings—that I was a “psychic fulcrum” for the energy to emerge.

Focused upon the power of loving-kindness and the importance of intention and personal beliefs, Kuan Yin insists that we are divine light that becomes “a person who plays out adventures from his or her beliefs”.

Indeed, Kuan Yin explains in metaphysical terms what some physicists already suspect--that time does not exist. The hypothesis of multiple universes is now a universally accepted scientific probability. What does such a sweeping concept mean for our supposed in-time existence? How does one reconcile such a precept with traditional definitions of reincarnation--that one is reborn into a succession of lifetimes? Events in all fields of consciousness (including trance and dreams), according to Kuan Yin, are valid parallel realities. Ego is unique in its in-time perceptions of reality.

In one incredible session, Kuan Yin came having a thousand arms. It was during this exchange with Lena that the Goddess also revealed the spiritual significance of her myriad dimensions as metaphors for the multiplicity of the soul:

“Kuan Yin is here, now,” explains Lena. “She is immense, having many arms, many dimensions. She’s so real. I’m amazed by the realness of her flesh.”

Encumbered by layers of beliefs and emotions, one unravels, through one’s earthly experiences, the mystery of each layer. That humans can experience a sequential life in a multi-dimensional universe is, indeed, the anomaly of voyaging this earthly plane. Flying free, no longer a captive of ego’s stifling encasement, one becomes limitless. Insisting that we are “jugglers of the dream (waking consciousness) and the world of dreams”, the Goddess states:

“You’re at page ten but I understand the entire evolution. In reality, it’s already over. It’s a dream. Remember? You’re living a dream. It’s very complicated to hold the dream and live the dream. You are learning the art of juggling the dream and the world of dreams. Nobody really gets hurt.”

Learning the Kuan Yin scriptures, I developed spiritual techniques for interpreting events occurring in the alternate fields of consciousness (such as trance and dreams). In fact, these methodologies for interpreting reality can be effectively applied to all fields including waking consciousness. With the assumption that reality springs forth simultaneously in all fields of consciousness from one’s beliefs, one can then uniformly evaluate and make connections between, for instance, waking events and the storyline and archetypes of one’s dreams. Spiritual techniques (for example, positive visualization and affirmation) initiated in any one “present” profoundly influences events unfolding in all the rest:

“Kuan Yin is showing me something, a tube, I think. I don’t fully understand this diagram. It is as if one end is the past, the other the future. The middle of the tube, the present, is our way, our vehicle for changing reality,” explains Lena.
“You slip into the universe, while living in this dream, this present. Your escape hatch is right here!” exclaims Kuan Yin.

Indicative of Kuan Yin has always been her immense compassion and accessibility. Kuan Yin has so much love for people that she won’t interfere unless they call upon her for help. Many Easterners know of her, but she is not so well known in the western hemisphere. She reminds Westerners that she is a deity who is very available. They can access her whenever they need to:

“To all people everywhere. I’m here and at your service!"
