Struck: An Epilogue to a Soulful Journey
In wanting anticipation, I waited. Five days time passed before it arrived. Last night, in a life-force shudder, I was struck wholly by the memories of Peru and the reality of my life. So shocking was this moment; it summoned a flood from my being.
Arriving home in the dim light, I parked my car on the side street. As I tugged at the keys in the ignition, I stopped, for my eye caught a fleeting dance of light and shadows. Appearing and vanishing across my windshield, I watched the glorious ballet. The nearby street lamp emulated the magical glow. The overhead tree choreographed the shadows. The wind orchestrated the graceful movement of both.
Feeling the weight of my soul and the breath within my chest, the stunning memories of the Andes unfolded. In my petite sedan, I rewitnessed the ephemeral dance of light that haunts the sacred mountains. "You have returned home," whispered a distant voice. "You are no longer stepping in tune with the ancient puma." In a final echo, the expression declared, "You are no longer amidst your peoples."
The dam of my life erupted at these words. Profound thoughts flowed into my empty valleys. In the deafening rush, I felt my lips tremble. But, clear and deliberate was my utterance, "Unconscionably unconscious."
