The angels want you to open yourself up to receiving the abundance of love that is all around you. Be receptive to the loving care that others offer. On the surface, this seems like an easy thing to do; after all, who doesn't want to be loved? However, if you are honest with yourself, you will see how hard it is to accept love from others and even from yourself.

Think of the expression: “it is better to give than to receive”. If you were to say that to a child, I am sure she would disagree. Why? Because children are better at receiving love. They are also better at giving it. As kids, we gave and received love freely; it was as natural to us as breathing. Our hearts were wide open and we were perfect channels for the love that surrounds us all. Now think about how much pleasure you experience when you give a gift to someone who really appreciates it. That warm fuzzy feeling that you get from giving to others is so rewarding. That is why we say it is better to give than receive. However, we need to ask for whom it is better. When you gratefully receive love (help, guidance, gifts, etc.) from others, you actually reward them for their actions. When you do not accept their gifts, you deny them immense pleasure.

As adults, we are not socialized to accept help from others. Receiving is perceived to be a weakness. Perhaps it has something to do with gender-bias. Being open and receiving is associated with the feminine whereas giving is masculine. When you are able to both give and receive, you actually balance the male and female energies within you. The act of receiving, of being open, also brings you other blessings such as renewed creativity and energy. When you are open, you release blocked, stagnant energy. It is actually very healing.

Let yourself be open to help from others. When you are in need, reach out and ask for assistance. Do not let pride, an extension of ego, block love from your life. Pride is shallow and fleeting whereas love is infinite. If you are in pain, or your heart is heavy, reach out to someone for help. If you have been injured, physically or emotionally, give yourself permission to seek help. Be kind to yourself. Let others care for you as you would care for them. Take time in your day to express love and to receive it. This does not mean giving in order to receive - that is not true love. It means not blocking love, reciprocated or otherwise.

Love is all around you. Just open yourself to receiving it and the love will pour in.
