One of the things that has inspired me, and inspired me to help others, throughout my life are the people who have become successful by working hard to overcome obstacles. I find these people far more interesting and special than those who have success, wealth, etc., handed to them “on a silver platter”.
In fact, in all of my Success Systems, such as The Power Of Thought, How To Get What You Want, When You Want It, I include real-world examples of successful people along with inspirational quotes to help you become motivated to take action.
I recently took on a new client – a 405-pound man. Now, one of the things that I am working on with him is to lose weight. I’m sure that many people who see him in public view him as lazy, unmotivated or slovenly.
But, the truth is quite the contrary - he is now highly motivated to lose the weight and is working hard to get into shape. Three times a week, he gets up at 5:00 A.M. and is at the training facility at 6:00 A.M. For the next 60 minutes, he is pushed to the limit by his trainer.
You see "effort is everything". What I have done with this client is taught him to use my “right / left” strategy. First, he puts on his pants, right pant leg then the left leg. Next, put on the right sneaker, then the left sneaker. Then, he begins with a little warm up, adds some more and before he knows it he’s at the end of the workout, accomplishing his fitness goal for the day.
The “right / left” strategy is a very effective one that you can adapt to work for you in any situation. And we all know that on some days, it takes a little more motivation than on others to work towards achieving your goals.
When you use my “right / left” strategy you will start by breaking down your goals into smaller, more achievable parts. And, clearly defined, realistic goals are an incredible motivator.
Take a “right / left” approach to all the things you “will to do” and you will erase your lack of initiative.
