I am sinking into the earth. I am sitting on grass-covered soil and I am slowly sinking, merging with the earth. I feel my legs and hips enveloped in the dirt, as I slowly descend into the ground.

As my hands submerge into the earth, it suddenly seems almost liquid. I feel the molecules and atoms of my hands are spreading out and joining with the molecules and atoms of the earth. I cannot tell where my hands end and the earth begins.

There is no fear or confusion. My physical body is fine and safe sitting on a mound of earth outlined by ancient stones, at the back of the Hula Heiau, overlooking the ocean on the north shore of Kauai. After a hike along the shore and a climb up the steep hill to this ancient and sacred site, this little cove seemed like a good place to meditate. And so my friends and I found just the right spots on the earth and began our mediation.

I started as always by welcoming the pure white light from the heavens down through my crown chakra, cleansing and clearing, the light proceeds down my spine and continues into the heart of our beautiful Mother Earth. Only today is different because instead of sensing that the beam of light is going through and below me – I can feel myself going with the light.

I continue my descent. The earth feels good and cool and clean. The tingling sensation continues as I sense that every particle of my being is opening, expanding and blending with the planet. I descend thorough the crust of the earth. I observe the root structures of the trees and plants. I travel through crystalline caves and dripping stalagmites. I journey on through underground rivers and streams of molten lava, continuing down, aware of textures and colors. Observing, even as I feel myself merging and becoming one with all aspects and attributes of the minerals and elements.

I reach the center, the very heart of Mother Earth. I experience a presence, a ruby red glow and an all encompassing embrace. I am flooded with a sense of coming home and I feel my heart, my very center, opening and expanding. I become a sparkling energy, expanding and extending out in all directions. I become aware of the oceans, the tides and the rolling waves.

I embrace a new sensation of being an essence that is completely liquid. And I seem to expand as I contracts, and to move as I stand still. I move with this energy and journey on. I become the land, I have a sense of touching the people that walk the planet on every continent. In this union with the earth energy I experience how each person is connected to the other. I whirl in this inter-connectiveness, seeing hands joining hand, and people embracing.

I celebrate and just as I am expanding out, out into the cosmos, I hear in my physical ear and feel in my physical body the movement and sounds of my friends. My friends, who joined me in this meditation, was it minutes ago, hours ago, lifetimes ago?

And with those physical sensations I feel my self pulled back, reluctantly returning to my physical body. As I unwillingly become aware again, I feel my face is wet with tears and it seems a big part of me is still in the embrace of Mother Earth.

Suzanna asks me
“Are you ready to head back”
“No No I don’t think I can leave yet, give me some more time“ I reply .
I close my eyes and slip back into the bliss, I feel this loving presence, it is my source and my creator, but before I can fully expand back into the entire planet, I am told to go back and I grieve.
“It will be alright” I am reassured – “We are One always”.
I resist “But I can’t just go back, what if I can’t remember?” I plead.
“You will always know - We are all one”.
And as I pull myself into my body, I feel as if I am loosing the greatest love of my life.
How will I know? How will I remember? I question, I agonize.
Then, I hear, in my physical ear, the voice of my friends calling:
“Jeanne the Dolphins are here” they say
“Of course they are”. I reply
And I raise myself from this sacred place and join my dear friends as we watch a pod of frolicking dolphins,. And the dolphins dance, swim and celebrate for me, and for you and for the oneness of all. And I remember, I know, we are all One.
