Reiki and the Economy
Written by Mary E. Riposo, PhD
Many people are finding it hard to stay positive at a time when it seems that all we hear is bad economic news. When we turn on the news, read the paper, or talk to family and friends, the topic invariably turns to the slumping economy. Last week the US government announced that we are technically in a recession. As a result, people are pulling back, taking stock, and being mindful of what they spend their hard-ea
ed money on.
If you are a Reiki practitioner, you may have had clients cut back on their sessions recently, seeing Reiki as a luxury that they can't afford right now. If this had happened to you lately, don't despair. Be assured that everything is in Divine order and proceeding as it shoulde. As you focus inward, take stock, and become more mindful your self, you can meet your clients where they are. One good option is to offer your services at a lower price point. For example, if you currently offer 60-minute sessions, consider offering a 30-minute session option, which may be more affordable to your clients; or offer "$1 per-minute" sessions. Then clients can choose how much they want to spend on a session. It's a win-win situation; your clients can continue to benefit from receiving Reiki and spend less money doing so. You could also run promotional specials during this time, such as "Recession Buster" discounted rates or Holiday specials.
Helping your clients remain in balance during these stressful times is very important. Continuing to do self treatments during this time will also go a long way twrd helping you, as a Reiki practitioner, remain in balance and stay grounded. Tapping into Reiki energy can help all of us realize that there is truly no lack. After all, Reiki is Source energy, which by definition is unlimited in its supply. During a Reiki session, you can help your clients to personally experience true abundance by feeling the Reiki energy fill them up and continue flowing without an end. Once they experience that at a deep level, they will know true abundance.
