Can you imagine how you would feel when you have just finished your speech, you look out into the audience and see smiling faces and hear that rapturous applause.

I think public speaking is a unique way of growing and developing as an individual, and also becoming an accomplished presenter.

So, what does it take to go through the process to become a good speaker? Before taking a closer look at each, the areas are:

Face Your Fears

Perseverance

Using Your Brain In The Best Way

Meeting Great People

A Process To Follow To Write And Deliver a Great Speech

Looks pretty simple so lets get started!

Face Your Fears

Most people rate public speaking as a pretty dreadful experience. They would rather do anything else!

I think that is why it is worth taking it on. This is facing your fears head on. The mental strength that comes from being a good speaker is fantastic.

All fears are there to protect you and get you on alert. That alert should be to prepare thoroughly, write a great speech and deliver it well.

Once you have made that first step and decided to make a speech you are a long way down the road to success.

Persevance

We are all able to persevere to meet a goal of any kind, particularly one where there is a high level of emotional attachment.

Perseverance is the engine room of success.

You will need to persevere to write the speech and get your final draft, also to practice delivery until you are happy with it. Finally you will need to take on a number of speeches until you are an expert.

Give it a go, get feedback, adjust your approach and work your way towards excellent speech giving skills.

Mind

Sharpening your mind in a very focussed way towards your goal of a great speech is a good way of developing your brain.

Your mind will get to work on something with this level of emotion attached. Using a process of creating and delivering an excellent speech you will break down the tasks and be able to feel successful as you go along. Thus avoiding overwhelm.

Think of some of the immediate benefits:

Spending time finding succinct, impactful ways of expressing points will help you in all communications as you become skilled.

As you practice editing for good English, your written English will improve.

As you practice speaking, your verbal English will improve.

As you learn and apply yourself your Brain will develop, be ready to learn more and overall be improved.

People

You will learn to communicate with people one to one at the dinners and social occasions involved.

You will also learn how to deal with an audience and enthral, challenge and inspire people.

Both great skills to have no matter what you are doing.

Perhaps you will meet some great people along the way.

Process

Using a simple process with each step broken down to enable your mind to fully focus on one bit at a time is best. An example of the key steps:

Start with the most important person, that is you. What is your experience and how are you feeling as you start the speech writing process.
Get organised with a theme you like ready to write a successful speech.
Get your mind organised and ready to go.
Check who is in the audience and what they expect to hear.
Complete basic preparation such as:
Research (back up facts with proper research)
Brainstorming points to make
Organise the great material you have at this stage in the process.
Create a strong beginning to grab the audience’s attention. You have a short time to get them interested, so use it well.
Create a strong ending. Leave your audience with a real flourish and memorable ending.
Write the middle part of the speech. Write a good solid, if not amazing speech.
Edit the speech to ensure the language is correct.
Time the speech and ensure it fit’s the schedule,.
Edit the speech for impact and flow
Deliver the speech. Speak slowly, write in the top half of the page to keep eye contact and practice, practice, practice.

Also you can give your speech some wow factor by effectively using Quotes, References and Poems.

Success

Success will come and that will breed further success. What an amazing, exhilarating feeling!

That success boosts your mind and you will crave more success. Not just in speaking but also other areas of your life. Totally thrilling!

I do believe you can achieve significant personal growth by applying yourself to the noble art of public speaking.
