Stress, unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, sleep deprivation, mentally undemanding work, smoking, and many other factors are responsible for the faster rate of aging in the brain. It is not really surprising that people in their late 30s are already experiencing memory gaps and poor problem-solving skills.

The scary thing about this is the seeming neglect that many people feel regarding their mental acuity and brain power. Many feel that such cognitive difficulties are all due to aging and nothing can be done about it. Actually, there are many things you can do about it. The only question is your willingness to delay, stop or even reverse your gray matter's aging process.

If you are serious in regaining your mental alertness and acuity, read on and discover what activities you can do to energize your cerebral faculties.

Try Learning A New Language Or Skill

If you have time in your hands, you should try enrolling in a class or learning something new. A new skill, such as learning how to make computer programs or websites, or learning how to speak a new language will help challenge your mind. Furthermore, these activities will also help you look at things differently.

Utilize Your Dead Time Properly

If you are stuck in traffic, waiting in a queue, or killing time in a mall, you might as well try doing mental exercises, reading a book or even listening to audio books. These activities are not only helping you learn new things, but will also help in bringing down your stress levels.

Improve Your Thinking Habits

As people grow older, they become more at ease in staying in their comfort zones and more reluctant to change. Many get stuck in a monotonous routine and humdrum existence. As a result, their thinking abilities get rusted and linear. If you don't want to experience this rut, you ought to start being creative and begin approaching even the simplest things in different angles. Furthermore, you can also try solving problems mentally using a variety of strategies.

Get Into The Habit Of Writing

Listing the things you should do for a day, making a shopping list, recording your day-to-day activities, spilling out your thoughts, taking down notes in a meeting and even making a poem or short stories are all activities that will not only help improve your memory, but will also assist in clarifying certain things. In fact, if you are serious in boosting your mind power, you should try keeping a planner, diary or journal because these will surely enhance both your creative and analytical thinking.

Practice Speed Reading

At first, you might feel that comprehension is compromised when you do speed reading. However, once you have mastered this skill, you will realize that you can learn more things at a quarter of the time using this ability. If you are a regular web surfer, you will be able to use speed reading in determining which sites are helpful and informative and which are only full of crap and marketing pitches.

Talk To Yourself

It is a common misconception that people who talk to themselves are just plain crazy. Actually, talking to yourself is a good way to improve your ability to think fast and express yourself well. If you are not comfortable doing this, you can probably try reading books aloud at first.

Take Some Supplements

You should never forget that your brain needs vitamins and minerals in order to function properly and repair damaged tissues. Although you can get vitamins and minerals from the food that you eat, these nutrients are still not enough to reach the daily values needed by your brain. One supplement that can help improve your cerebral abilities is Neurovar. Know more about this product by visiting www.Neurovar.com.
