A space clearing is not Feng Shui, but compliments the goals of Feng Shui. A space clearing is a series of ceremonies that rid a structure of (clears away) energies that can block Feng Shui objectives and correctives. In short, it is a way to cleanse and organize the environment.

Energies could have been sealed in when the roof was installed (as an example the property could have been a burial ground, a residence, a business, or used for another purpose), or previous occupants could have been physically or emotionally ill. A space clearing can use several items and procedures, such as:

- Clear clutter
- Essence oils
- Visualization and prayer
- Sound (clapping, bells, gongs, mantra)
- Candles

and is an accumulation of techniques from many cultures.

Space clearings address personal energies (human and spirit), but deal with heavenly and earthly energies within a structure. You've heard opposites attract? That's not necessarily the case in this instance as negative energy attracts more negative energy. It needs to be dispersed and cleared in order to invite in, and continually attract positive energy. Then Feng Shui can be implemented to deal with interior and exterior energy flow concerns.

Perform a complete (whole house) space clearing initially, and again as changes are implemented in each room. For those who experience ongoing professional or personal stress, chronic fatigue, or over work…a space clearing should be done frequently. We can be active and passive about our environment, and I choose active. Therefore, I recommend (at a minimum) an annual clearing. Just like an annual physical is proactive for the body, so an annual space clearing is proactive for the building!
