SUCCESS – NOW AND FOREVER
by Natalia Alexandria
Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
Success, and the basis for success, has been bandied about for millennia. Since the beginning of time, society has been defining what success is, or ought to be, and we have been busy following those definitions – because we all want success.
Does success mean a hefty portfolio of assets, excessive media attention, or bringing about world peace? Does it apply to the moms and dads who emotionally prepare their children to tough out this crazy thing called life? And, what about people who sit along the bay breathing in the scented air of the ocean -- are they successful too?
Even with the tidal wave of success definitions, it makes me think we’re a whole lot smarter than society would credit us for. After we attain a few conventional successes – maybe an academic degree, a promotion, or a partner, in time, we end up figuring out that success, at least the long-term type of success is ultimately measured by our own personal standards, not those imposed by others. And despite how many times society tries to reinforce the fundamentals of success, and no matter how many times we test those fundamentals, we end up learning that success overwhelmingly comes from within.
What is that place from within? Within refers to the inner self that knows exactly what drives our heart and soul. It’s a place way deep down that faces a daily avalanche of perspectives that are meant to persuade us into someone else’s idea of success. Usually we succumb, because it’s a whole lot easier to go along, than to dig deeply to find out exactly what we ought to be doing. It’s precisely why we struggle, and face the kind of turbulence found in mid-life crises. But if we dare to explore and become who we really are, this process of unraveling our inner core, uncomfortable as it may be, will bring us fulfillment, happiness, and the wonder that is human life.
But why should we care? Because no matter what we achieve, the excitement of fragmented successes wane after we adapt to our newly found victories. If we only rely on external yardsticks to measure our success, disappointment and inadequacy will creep up when we just can’t measure up to some new yardstick, or while we sit in limbo without success and its triumph. Success in its truest sense is a state of being. It’s not a place or thing, but an attitude. The distinction we have to make for success – now and forever -- is to LIVE success, not chase it. This broad attitude creates an understanding that successful living is directly related to how we handle life’s learning curve of events – all of them. IF we dignify that place from within, all those events, will perpetuate the high of success because we become perfectly aligned with our own truth.
How do we find our truth and create success – now and forever? I would be remiss if I said it was easy, and could unveil some big secret. However, I can share thirty years of personal study and experience that got molded into a common sense framework that works. It’s no secret. The framework integrates the wisdom of experts and other great thinkers, but has been simplified into a 100 pages of practical disciplines and attitudes that strip down to your “within”. In this process of unraveling your inner core, you learn to balance your entire energy field of the body, mind, spirit, and relationships. It’s a big picture approach to success that weeds out your best energy, in order to discover YOUR version of lifelong success. It complements what you’re already doing. Are you finally ready to take real control that will last a lifetime?
