The 3 Secrets - A Guide To Finding Success, Prosperity & Fulfillment

In this day and age, the meaning of success is more diverse than ever. Its meaning is more questionable than perhaps a century ago. We have thus far associated success with money, status and materialism. We relentlessly pursue success at the expense of peace, joy and purpose. The world view reinforces the notion that if only we made more money or acquired the expensive car we will be happier. And so the chase begins. We strive tirelessly to achieve a certain degree of skill, knowledge or expertise in our chosen fields all in the hope of moving up the ladder of success. For some, the chase eventually pays off and they end up living the great dream and only to find they are alone, or disconnected or empty. But for the majority of us success seems to elude us and leave us wondering if we are meant to achieve anything at all.

Throughout human history, every successful person who has lived on this earth has shared and left behind a secret or two about the path to success and what it actually means. I have found there to be a common theme in the lives of these people, and by the way, the odds were not always in their favour. I learned that success to these people had nothing to do with money at all but a deep inner joy of using their true gifts to make a contribution to the world at large. They knew that in order for success to be found and lived they had to tread on a path of unconventional means. They were not interested in living a life that the masses wanted or coveted. They wanted to create original lives and they wanted to be originals. Whether they knew exactly what they were destined to contribute or not was not their primary concern – they were after passionate engagement. Finding their mission and life’s work fuelled their souls and hearts on a daily basis. To be engaged in work that totally consumes you and excites you is one of the secrets of success. Your soul cannot feel passionate about working in an office if that is not your true calling. The soul cannot be mocked, and your discontent is your soul telling you that there is something else that you need to look for or find.

Unfortunately, the society that we live in reinforces the belief that you can’t make money doing what you love, but rather earning money doing something that you have no passion for. This paradox paralyses many people and it is suffice to say that they never move in the direction of the heavenly stars. This belief, of course, is an illusion. History is full of extraordinary individuals who followed their bliss and ended up living lives beyond their imagination. We need to seek out people who are living their passions, for they become an example from which we can draw inspiration. I encourage you to follow your passions, and in time, you will reap a beautiful and bountiful harvest. Success is not an easy grade to pass – it begins in the mind, followed by the right attitude, then in action, and before you know it, the heavens will open up to you. Bear in mind the words of Albert Schweitzer: “I don’t know what your destiny will be, but I do know one thing: the only ones among you who will be happy are those who have sought and found how to serve”.

Once you have sought and found how to serve, you automatically access the blueprint of success within your consciousness. Prosperity and success are only a state of mind and nothing else. Success has nothing to do with luck but rather a mind that has cultivated the qualities that magnetize opportunity to come pouring in which will pave the road to success and prosperity. I’m sure you’ve heard of the saying “Luck is when preparation meets opportunity”. If destiny brings you the opportunity and you are not prepared to meet it half way, then luck will pass you by as if you were a stranger. So what can we do to prepare ourselves? By developing a positive state of mind. Positive thinking is a muscle, a muscle of the spirit that must be disciplined and utilized to work in your favour. Just stating a few positive mantras does not transform a mind-set that has indulged in negativity for 30 or 40 years. Just as bodybuilders have to spend years conditioning their body and mind to produce exactly the physique they desire to win a championship, so it is with the mind. I believe all of us can have prosperous and enriching lives. You do not come to this universe ill equipped or lacking in anything. The Bible tells us: ‘You are made in God’s image’, and if this is the reality then just imagine the power that lies within you. You were not born to be a victim, or to remain a victim - You are too powerful of a person to be considered as such. Once at a party I heard someone quoting Randall D. Worley, which left an impression on me for many years: “Being broke is a temporary situation. Being poor is a state of mind”.

Do you have a poor state of mind? A poverty mindset always sees the cup as half empty, and therefore has nothing to do with how much money we make or have. It is a cultivated disposition and it can be transformed. The reason we see the cup as half empty is because we’re not using our full capacity or potential. Each one of us has a reservoir of creativity, ideas, skills, knowledge that we have at our disposal if only we tap into it. I urge you to take stock of all your capabilities, creativity, ideas, and begin using your natural talents to manifest a life of material and spiritual prosperity. Lao-Tsu said it best: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. Any new undertaking or journey or endeavour requires that first crucial step and your focus should not be of how far you have to go but of actually taking that first step towards your dreams. If you are eager to make a change or are ready to embark on the hero’s journey then I urge you to begin now and commit yourself to taking that first step. Its never too late to begin. You would be amazed at how things will flow for you and the journey of a thousand miles in actuality becomes effortless.
Let’s look at the 3 secrets that will help you climb the ladder of success, prosperity and fulfillment.

Love What You Do: The first time I heard the quote “Do what you love and the money will follow”, I thought to myself, “You’ve got to be kidding”. How is that possible? How could the road to prosperity be so simple. Well, it isn’t simple at first but it does get easier once you understand this secret. Following your dreams or pursuing your passions or doing what you love, I have to tell you, there’s nothing like it in the world. When you decide to apply this secret - the power of your spirit awakens and steers the ship towards horizons that you wouldn’t have been able to explore had you remained in a career that you disliked. The wisdom of Confucius implores us ‘Choose a job you love and you never have to work a day in your life’.

Share What You Know: Each one of us has specialized knowledge, talent, or unique gift that can be put in the service of others. Each one of us has something to give to another. We have the power to change someone’s life. Whatever your gift is - share it. Your soul’s only wish is to be of service and to change the world in some way. Create opportunity and seek out venues that will support what you have to share – whether in the form of specialized skills or creative ability – just do it. If there is something that you love to do and are good at it and it flows through you – you can share it.

Give What You Have: Proverb 11-24 tells us: ‘One man gives freely, yet grows richer, another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want’. This proverb reveals a very powerful law – when you give you help to open the floodgates of abundance and the universe will give you more for your effort. When you withhold all that you have you work against the flow of the universe. To apply this principle, begin by seeking something outside of your nine-to-five job as an additional source of fulfillment and self expression. There are so many people who are in need, and I’m sure you have something you can contribute and give that will help to inspire and uplift someone. When you begin to implement, apply and embody the three secrets within your consciousness you become a powerful magnet that attracts all that you need and more. Success will no longer be elusive to you but a living reality. I will leave you with these words….
If you want happiness for an hour - take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day – go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year – inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime – help someone else.
Chinese proverb.
