The Universal Life Force known as Reiki has been healing people, animals, plants and situations for thousands of years, yet it continues to remain an enigma in our Western culture.

Reiki not only promotes your physical well-being, but also has a positive effect on your emotional and spiritual equilibrium.

Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing by clearing blocks in the energy fields. Reiki flows in a powerful and concentrated form through the hands of the giver, who is used as a channel to conduct this natural healing energy. The laying on of the hands directs the healing energy into the body of the receiver.

This life force energy flows and pulsates through every living thing. We each bring with us a certain amount of energy to life, and we use it up in the business of ordinary daily living. We then have to create a daily supply of new energy. When we are unable to make up for our energy consumption for a prolonged period, we may become physically or emotionally ill. If our supply of life force is depleted, we suffer from physical, emotional and mental exhaustion, and tend to be much more irritable, bad-tempered, and depressed than usual.

Reiki takes a holistic approach that looks beyond the physical body to manipulating the subtle energy systems where the cause of disease can be located. Environmental, emotional and mental stress, trauma, false belief systems and other blocks to our personal growth can be stored in the energy fields of our bodies, negatively impacting our ability to function at our full potential.

Many of us usually wait until we are feeling symptoms of an ailment or illness before seeking treatment. Reiki’s energetic healing can help identify “issues” before they manifest as pain or similar distortions in the body. It opens our consciousness to the areas we need to work through and heal in order to bring our lives into balance and maintain health, harmony and vitality.

One of the most attractive qualities of Reiki is that it is a non-invasive technique and there are no harmful side effects, making it suitable for people (and animals!) of all ages and with varying health conditions. It can be used to replenish vital energy, strengthen the immune system and to ward off disease.

While Reiki has been shown to help in the healing of ailments and illnesses such as headaches, body tensions, exhaustion, depression and fears, as well as acute and chronic disorders of all kinds, it is important to point out that it is in no way meant to be a substitute for medical treatment or care. In the case of illness, a doctor or healing practitioner should always be consulted.
