Yoga is the science of right living. It enhances the personality of the human being in each and every respect. Like physical, mental, emotional, psychological, spiritual.
Yoga means unity or oneness and it is derived from the Sanskrit word yuj which means to join ‘.In spiritual terms is defined as union of individual consciousness with the universal consciousness. In simple terms you can say it is the harmony of body, mind, soul and emotions. This is done only with the help of Asana, Pranayam, Band, Mudras, Hathyogkriyas and Meditation. In physical terms the goal of Yoga is bringing different bodily functions into perfect co-ordination. From this level it moves upward on mental and emotional level. Yoga arose at the beginning of human civilization when man first realized his spiritual potential and began to evolve techniques to develop it.
As now we are in 21st century, Yoga is a panacea for all physical, mental, emotional and spiritual problems. For most of people Yoga means simply a means of maintaining health, weight loss programmes and well being in such a stressful society. Asans remove the physical discomfort which we feel during the whole day. and in general broad term Pranayam is generally meant for easing the stress But when we see very fine threads of Yoga , we see a deep tones of music in it .It somewhat harmonize our inner self with the Supreme one.
In this respect Yoga is more more big from simply being physical exercises, rather, it is an aid to establishing a new way of life which embraces both inner and outer realities
