If you are a woman or a man with questions about aging and skin greasiness, you have finally arrived at the right place. What you will learn about here are the things that contribute to oily or greasy skin. It may surprise you to know that getting older is not among them
As we age, our skin’s texture and composition goes through several changes. The production of collagen slows down. The skin’s layers become thinner, as the production of new cells decreases. And, last but not least, the sebaceous glands produce less sebum.
Sebum is the natural oil that lubricates and protects the skin’s outer layers. We wash it away day after day. There are some health problems, as well as some medications, that cause an overproduction of sebum. So, if you are taking any medications, it would be wise to check with your pharmacist about side effects.
After illness and medication are ruled out, the most common causes of complaints about aging and skin greasiness are skincare products. They could be brand names that you have used since you were young. The manufacturer could have changed the formula or, maybe, it never bothered you before.
If you have recently started using something new, perhaps an anti-aging moisturizer, that is the most likely culprit. Most of the ingredients found in today’s lotions are not actually moisturizing.
You might think that an expensive skincare cream could not possibly be the cause of excessive oiliness. But, the expensive ones are likely to contain petrolatum and mineral oil. The inexpensive ones will definitely contain them, as well as other cheap fillers.
Petrolatum and mineral oil are the most common causes of complaints about aging and skin greasiness, because they are not molecularly similar to sebum. Only oils that are similar to sebum will be absorbed by the skin’s cells. Others will stay on top and clog the pores. They cause an oily feeling and a shiny complexion.
The ingredients may be hiding in your shampoo, your shaving cream (if you are a man), your lotion or moisturizer. If you stop using products that contain them, your complaints about aging and skin greasiness will start to go away, but you will still need a “real” moisturizer.
One of the best moisturizers for all ages is a compound called CYNERGY TK. It has been shown to increase the skin’s moisture content by more than 20% after the very first use. It is quickly absorbed, leaving no greasy feeling at all.
CYNERGY TK is a proprietary formula that contains the protein keratin and small amounts of zinc and copper. That combination has been shown to stimulate the skin’s growth. After a few weeks of use, the skin’s layers become thicker, again. The face looks firmer, wrinkles start to fade and fine lines disappear.
In a recent review published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, the researchers concluded that some of today’s topically applied creams are safer than and nearly as effective as costly and painful procedures like microdermabrasion and Botox injections.
There are also natural ingredients, like passion fruit extract, that balance sebum production. So, if the cause is an overproduction of sebum, you can look for a cream that contains both Cynergy TK and passion fruit. You should see your complaints about aging and skin greasiness start to fade away.
