'Fess up.

If you're reading this blog you may be a shopping addict. There's a world of difference between someone who shops for necessities (even luxuries) or social enjoyment and the person who shops to deaden emotional pain. Which one are you?

Like a drug addict you use shopping to get you high, make you feel better about your self or circumstance if you:

- Go on buying binges when you are upset, depressed, lonely, stressed or antsy.
- Kill time on eBay or other shopping websites.
- Think that if you just buy that little black Prada dress or expensive watch THEN you'll be or look like who you want to be
- Get an emotional charge with each purchase - and then feel guilty later on
- Are spending beyond your means
- Haven't even used some of the stuff you bought
- Hide your purchases from family and friends

There isn't a Chloe purse in the world that can make you find value, purpose and meaning in your life. Stuff simply cannot fill an inner void. Compulsive shopping is a vicious cycle of quick highs and chronic lows. The more you shop the worse you end up feeling about yourself and your choices. In order to feel better you head to the mall! And the cycle goes round and round in a never ending gerbil treadmill that will destroy you.

The self-destructive behavior of a shopping addict costs more than a bank account. It bankrupts the human spirit.

If you identified with any of the behaviors listed above chances are you are depleted and trapped in what I call a Gilded Cage. Everything looks great from the outside but inside you are crumbling. It is time to get reconnected with who you really are and what you really want! Moxie Up! The road to your greatness is not paved with bling. It is founded in your confident courageous authentic expression. When you show up in life comfortable in your own skin in alignment with your truth that empty hole inside will be filled to the brim with love, abundance and opportunities.

Perhaps Bob Dylan said it best, "When you feel in your gut who you are and dynamically pursue it - don't back down and don't give up - you're going to mystify a lot of folks." You are here to mystify a lot of folks. Get the shopping monkey off your back and realign with your authentic greatness.
