Time management requires discipline as well as commitment to change. If you fail to be disciplined or commit to action then you will not be able to manage your time effectively. Time management is all about better planning; prioritizing your goals; delegating responsibility; controlling your environment; understanding yourself and identifying the things which you will require changing about yourself.

For this, you will need to assess your current situation and what steps you would require taking in order to achieve your goals. Followed by this, you need to decide what tasks are urgent and important, in other words, you need to prioritize your work. Avoid procrastination so that you may devote time to more important tasks rather than simple, easy tasks.
If you wish to attain your goals successfully, it is important for you to break your goal into smaller components. Pen down the steps and try to follow them as strictly as possible. Maintain your enthusiasm by rewarding yourself every time you finish a step.
Evaluate your progress towards your goals on a regular basis. Revise your plans from time to time so that you remain prepared to face any type of unforeseen changes. One thing which you need to understand is that things will not always work in your favor. So, you need to develop positive attitude in case of adverse circumstances and keep pursuing your goals till you achieve them.
In order to achieve success in life, it is very important to organize your time properly. You need to identify the loopholes or the unproductive areas of your life where you might be wasting time. Develop a proper work routine and use a time log to eliminate wastage of time and increase productivity.
Time management could successfully be achieved through proper planning and then protecting the planned time. Proper planning followed by protection of the planned time involves conditioning, or re-conditioning your environment instead of allowing your environment to condition you.
By improving your time management skills, you will increase your productivity and that too without overstressing yourself.
