As a small business owner, you may feel as if you are lacking in choices when it comes to being able to automate your organization. The fact the matter is, however, you can apply many of the automated tools to your business that are used by the larger corporations with hundreds of employees in multiple locations. It really is a matter of scaling to the point where you are able to take full advantage of what the automated solutions have to offer. You also need to consider the possibility that some automated solutions are not going to be cost-effective for your company, if it is smaller. Here are some things that you can do which will help to put your business on autopilot and allow you to grow your business successfully.

The first thing that you should do when thinking about any type of automation within your business is to look at the big picture. It is not simply enough for you to focus on how large your company is now, you need to also determine how large you would like your company to be over the next several years. If you are still planning on running the business on your own without any employees, your goals are obviously going to be different than if you want to have dozens of employees working for you at that time. You can then proceed with building a business plan which will help you to determine what type of automation is going to benefit you.

Some of the specific types of automation which have helped many companies is to automate the O2C (order to cash) process as well as SAP document archiving. This is something that is going to be very specific to certain industries and business models. If you find that you are spending a considerable amount of time on these tasks in your small business, it may be to your benefit to choose an automated solution which will assist you.

Something else that can be automated to a certain extent is your social media marketing efforts. If you are not yet using social media within your business, you really need to consider doing so. It will help you to connect with your clients as well as your potential clients and to make it easier for you to make sales, regardless of your business model. Of course, if you're going to be automating this part of your business, you need to make sure that you do so sparingly. Putting social media on complete autopilot can be devastating, as people are really expecting to interact with you or your company directly and not a bot.

One other thing that I would mention is the fact that it is always a good idea to keep your webpages updated regularly. This can often be done through an automated process as well. Be sure that you choose one which is going to work with your specific type of website design or have a website designed around an automated system which will allow you to post new information easily.
