Camping Essentials for Your Caravan – A Guide
Written by Ron Spencer
You should always go for a high power battery like the ones from Bosch batteries, because these have the capacity to run your caravan as well as your mini fridge. Make it a point to get a high powered one so as to ensure zero disruptions in power while you are out camping. Now coming back to the mini fridge – we all know that a camping trip is supposed to expose you to the challenges of the wilde
ess, where you have to cook your food on a bonfire and sleep in a sleeping bag under the stars, but let’s face it, we have gotten too much used to living a life of luxury. We need chilled soda cans with our food even while camping. We need some sausages or bacon for breakfast and a nice steak for dinner. All these things are quite impossible without a mini fridge in your caravan. On top of that, if you are a diabetic, you cannot hope to travel without your insulin shots, which must be stored in a refrigerator for safe keeping and for maintaining its potency. Hence, a mini fridge has become an absolute necessity for all campers.
There are various types of mini fridges available in the market for your consideration. It is up to you to make an informed decision based on your need as well as the available space in your caravan. Depending on your needs, you can get any one of these mini fridges:
• Chest freezer – It is perfect for those who have a lot of free space inside their caravans, are going on a very long journey, and want to store items like sodas, alcoholic beverages, meat products, frozen dairy products, etc.
• Ice boxes – Ice boxes are ideal for those travellers who usually go on weekend trips. These are much smaller in size and do not require a lot of battery power to run. The space inside these ice boxes is ample enough for storing a few items that you might need over the weekend.
• Upright freezer/fridge – This is basically a smaller version of the fridge you have at home. These models usually come with separate freezer and refrigerator sections for different kinds of items that you want to take with you on your camping trip. You can even store fruits and vegetables in these models, in case you are a vegetarian.
• Drawer freezer/fridge – Ideal for storing sodas and alcoholic beverages only, a drawer fridge can be placed under your caravan's bed quite easily, allowing you easy access to a chilled drink when you are in the mood to relax.
So, as you can see, the number of options is quite widespread. You just need to make a choice based on your preference.Article author
