Chetan Bhagat: The true representative of the Indian youth

Chetan Bhagat who has been applauded as one of the best-selling novelists in modern India. He isalso a former investment banker, a newspaper columnist, a motivational speaker and author of five black buster novels - Five Point Someone (2004), One Night @ the Call Center (2005), The 3 Mistakes of Life (2008), 2 States (2009) and Revolution 2020 (2011). Bhagat’s third novel,The 3 Mistakes of My Lifeis shaped from a received e-mail from a student Govind who committed suicide out of depression and dissatisfaction resulted from three mistakes. By touching very nerve of the concept of entertainment, belief system and fulfillment of life through cricket, religion and love making respectively, the author vividly depicts the challenges of youth.

2 States: The Story of My Marriage is all about an IIMA couple’s struggle to marry over the cultural differences. Krish is north Indian Punjabi boy in love with Tamilian Brahmin girl Ananya. The author cardinally presents hegemonic qualities of Indian society in terms of race, caste, colour, creed, region, religion and nation.

Chetan Bhagat’sRevolution 2020 is a kind of alter call to the Indian youth on the burning issue called corruption.By justifying the title, the author has clearly focuses the rotten Indian education system and corruption that exists till date.
