Hot yoga is a vigorous form of yoga practiced under hot and humid conditions (40 degrees centigrade and 40 % humidity). It is known as Bikram Yoga, as it was crafted by Bikram Choudhary, principally from Hatha Yoga, which is yoga, which focusses on the physical aspects of the body through the practice of postures or asanas in consonance with breathing techniques.

The Hot yoga studio is fitted with a heat recovery unit as well as infra red heating panels which mimic the sun’s heat. An industrial fan heater is also recommended to keep the ambient temperature warm even as people move in and out of the room. A steam humidifier keeps the room humid. There are many service providers who set up these studios in Brussels and everywhere else in the world. Hot yoga Bruxelles is very popular. Bikram Yoga consists of a series of twenty six postures over a ninety minute schedule.

• One can burn at least 500 calories in one Hot Yoga session.

What to remember while doing hot yoga

Drink plenty of water not just before, but at regular intervals during the period before you come to the class. If you feel dizzy, you are advised to stop and get back your balance by focusing on your breathing. Do not eat at least two hours prior to your hot yoga class. Once the class is over, drink water and replenishes the electrolytes lost with tender coconut water or an electrolyte drink. Be early for the class, so that you have time to communicate any issues to the instructor and also get acclimatized to the heat.
