As much as I hate to admit it, a bag of chips is never going to help me or anyone else get a fit, lean body. That said, a desire to lose weight does not mean that you cannot eat tasty food. It's pretty hard to imagine anyone sticking to a diet that only allows for boring foods. Tons of great options exist for way to keep you feeling full and satisfied, while assisting with your weight loss goals.
Does your current diet contain enough protein?
These include fish, beans, turkey, and chicken. There have been frequent studies that men and women who took in more protein, yet exercised the same as a control group that did not take in more protein, ended up losing more weight during the course of several months. In a review by the Journal of Nutrition (March 2009), it was found that the group that consumed extra protein ended up losing more weight in their abdominal region, on average, and retaining more of their muscle mass than the group that didn't have the protein. This occurs since everyone's body needs to put more effort into breaking down protein - while fats and carbohydrats are a lot simpler to break down. This means that eating protein already burns calories, because the body is in the process of breaking down your food intake. Luckily there are more advantages. Because it takes longer to digest, people often feel full for much longer. This is perfect if you are interested in reducing your caloric intake.
Eggs! Really??
Yes, these are lean protein too – but they work so good they deserve their own mention as one of the best diet foods! Although the science behind the benefits of eggs is complicated, the proof that they work isn't. Those that start their morning off with eggs typically eat less than people that do not. It is an super way to consume additional protein in the morning and there are many delicious ways to make them as well. Poached on toast is my favourite, or if you’re pressed for time in the mornings you can make some hard-boiled eggs in advance.
Strawberries and oranges are tasty healthy foods
Some diets tell people to avoid all fruit and can set people on the wrong path. If you look at the makeup of a fruit, it is mainly fiber and water. This means that you are eating something (reducing hunger) without adding many calories. Stick to real whole fruits, because many pre-made juices are jammed with sugar. Especially pears convenient to carry around and don't need much in the way of preparation. A great quick easy snack.
A quick snack is Cereal
Now when it comes to cereal we are not talking about the sugar loaded treats that companies try to pass off as “breakfast food for kids” in the cereal aisle – we are talking about unsweetened cold cereal with two thirds of a cup of low-fat milk. Let’s face it, if you want a snack there are few people that want to snack on some pieces of lettuce. Therefore, cereal is a fantastic different idea when looking for healthy foods, but just remember to pick a cereal high in fiber and low in sugar.
Vinegar and flavored mustard add taste
Many would turn up their nose and take a pass on a salad with dressing. But you need to be careful because dressing is one of those stealth ways of consuming tons of calories. Unfortunately, the caloric content and fat percentage of some salad dressing is enough to quickly turn a healthy salad into a calorie monster. If you want to add sizzle to foods, without grabbing a bunch of extra calories, try Dijon mustards, wasabi, garlic, ginger, or tarragon. Alternatively, vinegar is also extremely tasty and can certainly enhance a meal – sherry vinegar, fruit-flavored, cider, herb, wine, or balsamic all add to most dishes. You can use them as a substitute for of butter, mayonnaise, or oil in recipes.
