What is a dream job? The answer to that question depends on who you are. For some people a dream job is working in the outdoors with animals. For people with allergies to pollen and animal dander that may be a nightmare career. To understand how to get your dream job you need to understand yourself. Only when you know who you are will you be able to gain that dream job.
In Hollywood the dream job is very seductive. “My dream job is to be starring in my own TV show.” “I want to be writing the next great action picture.” “I’m going to be running my own studio.” We need to know whether these are great jobs or dream jobs. Great jobs are challenging and rewarding but may not be for you. Dream jobs are also fabulous and are will be jobs that you actually want to do.
You need to understand yourself and your potential dream job. Your potential dream job meets your needs and desires. It is not just a great job, a sexy career, or a prestigious position. It is something that you will really enjoy doing. Often people believe that a certain job is a dream when actually it is more of a nightmare!
Don’t fall into that trap!
