If you’re like most people you have probably given up on making New Year’s resolutions because you know they simply don’t last. The inability to sustain a resolution, whether it be about weight, smoking, drinking or other negative habits is the result of unconsciously buried negative thoughts/beliefs that are already two steps ahead of you. Self sabotaging habits are largely driven by negative unconsciously held beliefs about one’s self such as: I don’t deserve to be happy, I am unworthy, I am inadequate, I don’t have what it takes to succeed, I will never shake these bad habits, I have a weak will, and so on. These negative beliefs will occasionally make themselves conscious and appear as negative thoughts. Most people however are unaware of their presence and therefore remain captive victims of their negative effects.
These negative effects are the self sabotaging habits which, by the way, reinforce the negative thoughts/beliefs themselves thereby keeping them in charge. For example, suppose one believes they are inadequate. Such a belief will often lead one to dislike, even loath themselves. This negative attitude towards one’s self will drive self destructive habits such as over eating, smoking, the overuse of alcohol etc. As the habits take hold they will simply reaffirm to the individual of how inadequate they “must be”. After all, they’ll think, look at what I’m doing to myself and I can’t even stop it.
So how does one permanently break out of this vicious negative loop into death?
Well, now there is a way to break the cycle by uncovering and permanently deleting the unconscious negative beliefs. You see, those negative beliefs originate and are also reinforced by the negative memories of early childhood events that conditioned/programmed you into having such thoughts/beliefs about yourself in the first place. In other words you are operating on a defective software program that is undermining you, your health, your relationships, your career, your success and so on.
So, if you’re with me so far, you’ll appreciate that in order to delete those negative beliefs/thoughts one must essentially also permanently delete/erase the negative memories from which they come. This is not that different from erasing a virus from your computer hard drive.
