In this age of information overload and instant gratification, it’s not uncommon that we feel overwhelmed. We wake up to 52 emails in our inbox, each demanding our attention or action.

What to do?

First step is kind of counterintuitive. Instead of trying hard to multi-task and check everything off the list – which actually scatters your attention and make your less effective – put a stop to everything and get clear on what’s important for you.

You may have to go slow for a few days and do some soul-digging to get the clarity. But this is critical and will serve as the guiding light so you can act with discernment.

Every week or two, set aside time to identify the top 3 – 5 priorities. Then every morning, or the evening before, list out 1 – 3 things for each one of your priorities that you want to accomplish for the day. And make those tasks or activities your priority. Do them first, and the rest is gravy.

We often forget our own needs – physical, emotional and spiritual. It may be fine in the short term, e.g. you are cranking for a launch. But definitely not sustainable in the long run because you will burnout and lose sight of the most important piece in your business – You!

Never ever compromise your own self-care, or whatever you need to do to stay balanced and healthy. For many women, it is a huge mindset shift. We have to understand that we are worth it, even if we don’t bend over backwards to help everyone and her aunt Betty. We have to stop validating our worth with how much we do FOR others.

We have to get over our fears of not being liked, loved or accepted if we put ourselves first. We have to know that if we take good care of ourselves we can be a better person for the people and vision that truly matter to us.
