First of all I want to look at why goals are important. When I coach people I always ask “What do you want?” Many People don’t even know in the beginning what they want. So we work on getting clear first of all.
So let’s assume that you already know what you want. “How are you going to get there?”
Setting Goals is the best way to make sure you reach the place you want to be.
Imagine already having what you really want – This is your ULTIMATE GOAL.
Now let’s see how to get you from where you are now to your ULTIMATE GOAL
Tips for effective goal setting
1. Look at your end result. Imagine yourself already having what you want.
2.What will you need to have achieved in order to have reached that ULTIMATE GOAL? Write down everything you will need to do. These are your giant steps.
3. Take each giant step and break it down into tiny steps. Giant steps are hard work. Little tiny steps are easy and much less time consuming.
4.Set daily goals to move you forward in the direction of your Ultimate Goal. Which tiny step is next on your list? Before you start on any new Giant Step always spend time focusing on your desired outcome.
5.Keep a record of achievement. ALWAYS keep a journal of achievements. This way you can easily see that you are getting closer and closer to your Ultimate Goal.
These tips will help you to keep focused and motivated.
When you have small steps to work towards you see results quickly and you really feel like you’re getting somewhere. It becomes much easier to stay focused and motivated.
