Home Remedies For Migraine That Are Simple to Use and Safe

Severe pain in the head is described as migraine. Irregular activity of nerve in the meninges and dilation or contraction of blood vessels in the brain causes migraine. Some of the factors responsible for causing migraine are; imbalance of serotonin, estrogen levels, caffeine, stress, birth control pills, heredity, nutritional deficiency and imbalance in blood pressure. Some of the common symptoms of migraine are; nausea, vomiting, numbness or weakness in arm or leg, throbbing headache, sensitivity to light and sound, red eyes with burning sensation, loss of appetite, depression and irritability.

Migraine Home Remedies

There are several home remedies for migraine which are simple to follow and easy to use. Some of the popular home remedies for migraine are:

1. One of the simplest home remedies for migraine is the use of cold compresses. It helps in constricting blood vessels. All you need to do is take an ice pack and wrap it inside a towel. Now apply this towel on forehead and temples changing positions every few seconds. Use this compress for three minutes and you will see that it gives relief from the migraine pain.

2. Try to take some nap. It will bring the body system in order and relax the muscles.

3. Avoid spicy food, red wine, cheese, chocolate and citrus fruits. These foods are known to have histamines which can cause migraine.

4. In order to lessen the pounding and throbbing of migraine headache, tie a cloth tightly around your head. This will decrease the flow of blood to the scalp.

5. Take some crusts of lemon and make them into a fine paste. Now put this paste on your forehead. This will help in giving you relief from the migraine.

6. Fresh cabbage leaves can also be used to treat migraine. Crush some fresh cabbage leaves and put them in a cloth. Now tie this cloth on your forehead and allow it to be there until the cabbage leaves dry out. Apply another compress once they dry out.

7. Take three teaspoons of water and put half teaspoon of mustard seeds powder in it. Smell this mixture or you can even put them in your nostrils. This will give you relief from the headache caused by migraine.

8. Grind some ripe and fresh grapes. Collect its juice and drink immediately. This is also very effective in treating migraine.

9. Take 300 grams of carrot juice and mix it with juices of spinach, cucumber and beet (100 grams each). Drink this juice. It is very effective remedy for migraine.

10. Consume ten to twelve almonds to get relief from migraine headache.

11. Drink chamomile tea just after you start to feel the effects of migraine. This will stop the migraine from becoming severe.

12. Fill a large bowl with boiling water and then add rosemary (handful) to it. Now take a towel and cover your head with it. Inhale the steam for five to ten minutes in order to get relief from migraine.

13. Take some cinnamon and make it into a paste. Now mix it with water and then apply on your forehead and temples. This is one of the most efficient home remedies for migraine.
