I get the question all the time, "How do I fit a daily meditation into my day? I'm stressed out trying to add one more thing to my life and fit it in and then when I fail to do so I feel defeated and give up. My response is, "Don't make it a production."

Start with a 3-5 minute breathing meditation of sitting still and tuning into your breath and how it feels as it flows through the body as you inhale and exhale. Do it as you wait outside your child’s piano lesson or the pick-up line for preschool. Do it as you are waiting for the conference call to start, before you begin to write a proposal, or work on a project. The key is tuning into the breath and focus your attention away from your daily task.

Practice tuning into how the breath feels flowing through the body as it teaches you awareness of how the body feels in stillness. The body does speak to us if we tune in. Also you are training the mind that you are the master. As you gently but commandingly tell the mind, "I am thinking only about the flow of my breath in this present moment and as I do so I encourage all the muscles in my body to decompress and relax."

I imagine liquid sunlight flowing through my veins. I do this to experience the connection with what I think of as God’s grace and the stream of consciousness that surrounds me. Just a few minutes, nothing formal nothing serious, just stillness whenever and wherever. This alone has been statistically proven to allow the body time to regulate itself. It really can be that simple!
