Cigarettes are one of the largest killers in the world. They can cause cancer, emphysema and a myriad of other ailments. Cigarettes contain tobacco, and other harmful chemicals. One of the main chemicals in cigarettes is nicotine. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance that keeps smokers dependent on cigarette use. When taken in small quantities, nicotine acts as a stimulant, but in high concentrations it can be extremely harmful. Regardless of the amount of nicotine that enters your body, it is highly addictive and causes significant harm to smokers’ health. As well as the negative effects of nicotine, most cigarettes use processed paper, which often contain carcinogens. On average, about 6 million people die annually due to complications caused by cigarettes and other forms of tobacco, with nearly half a million people dying in America. Smoking cigarettes is known to cause an increase in the possibility of heart disease, cancer and numerous other health problems. Cigarette smoking also accounts for an excessive burden on health departments in nearly every country in the world, with several hundred billion dollars spent in the US alone. What are Electronic Cigarettes? Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) are devices that simulate the effect of smoking a traditional cigarette, often without including nicotine as an ingredient. Unlike traditional cigarettes, e-cigarettes use a flavored liquid that is heated to form an aerosol vapor inside the e-cigarette’s chamber. Initially designed in China, e-cigarettes have rapidly become very popular amongst the younger generation. They are also used by a number of people who are addicted to smoking and are looking for a way to enjoy the experience without the nicotine. There are other alternatives for those looking to quit cigarette smoking, such as the nicotine patch or nicotine chewing gums. However, electronic cigarettes have become more popular because they provide a similar feeling to smoking tobacco cigarettes. E-Cigarettes as a Lifestyle Choice E-cigarettes come in various flavors, with the choices increasing all the time. Some of the liquids do contain nicotine, glycerol and other additives and are not necessarily used for people trying to quit traditional cigarettes. Using e-cigarettes (vaping) has gone from being an alternative to smoking tobacco to a regular lifestyle choice for millions of people around the world. There are numerous vape-shops that have been popping up all across the world due to this phenomenon’s increasing popularity. The wide variety of flavors and the vast availability of choices are just some of the many reasons for e-cigarettes’ rising acceptance. Using E-Cigarettes to Quit Smoking Traditional Cigarettes While it has long been claimed that using electronic cigarettes can help conquer the habit of smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes, there was little evidence to prove these claims for an extended period of time. However, in recent years, a number of health agencies in the UK and US have proven some claims that display benefits of electronic cigarettes. According to these researchers, electronic cigarettes are significantly less harmful than tobacco cigarettes and carry only a fraction of the health risks of tobacco cigarettes. The main reason behind the lower risk factor is the difference in ingredients. Because there is no processing required for the paper or tobacco, the amount of chemicals in e-cigarettes is significantly lower. The e-cigarette liquids contain far fewer carcinogens than tobacco cigarettes. The liquids also come with different levels of tobacco, which gives a far greater level of control to users who wish to quit cigarettes, with the added advantage of suffering less withdrawal symptoms. This is extremely beneficial to those who are highly addicted to cigarettes. To quit smoking cigarettes by using electronic cigarettes, one can start with an e-cigarette liquid with approximately the same nicotine concentration as their regular cigarettes. With the help of a strict timetable, they can bring the nicotine concentration down to zero. This process can take months, so it is recommended that users stay patient and persistent during the process. E-cigarettes can be exceptionally helpful in combatting the addiction to traditional cigarettes.
