How Important Is Data Appending
Written by Davis Alexandra
For those who own a business, it may rely a lot on your database. Exhausting your efforts to be able to secure this and not compromise your operations is important. Companies can lose a lot of valuable data everyday in so many ways. From the Internet alone, a lot of digital contaminants can easily wipe out what may have been stored in the hard disk for years. To ensure that you are able to secure your information, take a proactive stance in keeping it safe and intact. It's not enough that you say you want your data to be safe. But taking measures is what you need to do.
Ensure the safety of your database is by knowing and understanding the risks you face. The number of people have access to it is what you need to know. Also, who are the people have access to it? Take note that most database security breaches happen internally. If there's anyone who can compromise the safety of your information, he or she is someone that works for you. But that is not the only reason, there are instances when outsiders can gain access to your data, but the greater possibility points towards insiders being behind attacks as well.
With the risks that you have determined, the next best step is to employ database security techniques that can strengthen your drive to protect your information. This will mean that you need to change all default passwords which are often no secrets at all, especially among IT people who are familiar with the usual passwords that are used. Your focus should be how to protect the information that the authorized personnel will be copying from your database even though it is basic to have only authorized people to access your database. It is important that there should be a clear trail showing how and where your information goes, even when it is copied from your database by an authorized person.
Basic security tips such as requiring all users to log out of their accounts when they are done doing their tasks will also go a long way. People can easily hack a database when an authorized user leaves his computer without logging out. This can be well-avoided by making sure everyone in the workplace understands how value your database is and that all efforts must be expended to make sure it remains in safe hands. Your staff should never write down their passwords on pieces of paper because these can easily land in malicious hands. All passwords must be memorized or created as mnemonics for better recall as much as possible.
