In life there are many ups and downs. Sometimes changing an aspect of your life can really make a difference. If you are in a down and want to improve your mood, lifestyle, or yourself in general here are some ways to do that.
1. Base your life off of what YOU want to do.
Base your life off of what you want to do with it, not anyone else. Think about the long run and how it will affect your life, will it make it better or worse? Say for example you want to be a therapist and your parents want you to be a doctor. Take into consideration their ideas, but if it will not make you happy in the long run, then be a therapist.
2. Manage your time
Don’t procrastinate or let things pile up, that can stress you out. Whatever method you use weather its to-do lists, set reminders, or just remember. To-do lists are my method and work great for me. As my older sister hadley said “To-do lists help because I’m a completionist, I almost feel guilty if I don’t finish it.”
3. Live a healthy lifestyle
Eating well and exercising is a big part of improving yourself. I recommend a vegetarian or vegan diet. They are extremely healthy and cruelty-free! Whatever diet you choose, steer towards fruits and vegetables! Exercising is awesome too, even if it is just walking your dog or riding a bike.
4. Go outside
When you can, go outside. Studies have shown being outside in a natural environment can improve memory performance and attention span by twenty percent. It will improve your mood as well.
5. Have support
If you have bad friends that are bringing you down, criticizing you, or holding you back in any way, it might be time to consider making new friends. Be around people that support you and push you forward. A loving environment will help you thrive and live the best life you can.
6. Motivation
Without motivation to improve yourself, you won’t achieve it. You have to want to be the best you can, not just hope for it. As Mark Caine said “The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself.”
7. Change
This is the most important step and basically summarizes this article. Without changing something, there will be no progress. If you keep your situation, there will sadly be no change in your emotions, body, mind...etc.
Improving yourself is a big step in reaching the highest level you can be either in emotions, well being, physically, or any other aspect. Overall this is for you and how you are. “When you are living the best version of yourself, you inspire others to live the best versions of themselves.” - Steve Maraboli, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience. Good luck everyone!
