With the drop in the job market people are looking for other ways to be successful. Sometimes people look at what others are doing in their profession and consider changing their own, they might look at a different trade, or they might go to school to further their education. People look at their options for success. A lot of times people look at what others are doing to try to imitate it thinking they can become successful as well.

People might look at a CEO and think; I want to be like her. They might also look at the Human Resource Manager and think, I can do that job. Some people could be telling themselves, I will have to go back to school for another year to get my degree to do this particular job. What’s the difference? What is it that they are not seeing?

First and foremost, you have to have confidence in yourself! Second, you have to enjoy what you are doing. You have to do the inner work to find out what it is that you enjoy doing. For example: Do you like to work with your hands? Do you love figuring out problems? Can you work from home or do you need an office atmosphere to be productive?

What is the common denominator of any successful person, besides their qualifications? It is their self-confidence! If you go into a business meeting and give a presentation on a product and you have researched that product but you lack the self-confidence needed to get your point across during the presentation, will it be successful? No, you have to exude the confidence in you and the product in order for it to be successful.

Let’s look at the body language difference in someone that exudes self-confidence and someone who lacks it. A person who exudes self-confidence will have their shoulders shifted back, their head held high and they will have eye contact with everyone in the room. A person with low self-confidence might be slouching; their head might hang down a little and have little eye contact.

Self-confidence is a frame of mind and that frame of mind also controls your body language. So before you pick up a book to learn something, before you look around you and see what others are doing in the job market, take some time out to work on you. You have the ability to become anything that you want to become in this world. You have to know it on the inside, the world can see it if you don’t. You are worthy of everything that this life has to offer. You are no different than anyone else, you are capable of achieving and you know you can achieve, you have it in you. You hold the key to your own success, start by knowing and believing it. It will make all the difference in the world.
