Major Roads for Car Accidents in New York

- Most of the car accident cases that lead to death occur from cars crashing with another moving car. In 2004, 37.8% of New York car accidents account 518 fatalities because of moving cars crashing with another vehicle in an opposing direction.
- Also in 2004, it is accounted that accidents that are caused by cars or trucks hitting stationary objects such as road islands, telephone poles or booths or traffic signs are responsible for 420 deaths. That is, 30% of the New York car accidents.
- Non-collision accidents also account for 3.1% of the accidents caused by speed crazies driving along highways and interstates that resulted in rollovers claiming 43 lives, as tallied in 2004.
- Cars, sports cars, station wagon, etc.- 702 deaths (as of 2004)
- Light trucks like SUV’s, light trucks and minivans – 246 deaths (as of 2004)
- Motorcycles – 150 deaths (as of 2004)
- Trucking vehicles such as 18 wheelers, tractors and big rigs – 9 deaths (as of 2004)
- Public modes like buses and trains – 0 deaths (as of 2004)
- New York (Bronx, Queens and Long Island) – 292 claims
- Rochester- 18
- Buffalo- 15
- Yonkers- 6
