Headache, or Cephalgia, is defined as pain in the head that is not confined to any one specific nerve distribution. This means that headaches can encompass a large area of the head and can affect many nerve areas simultaneously. Generally, Migraine headaches can be divided into two basic groups, primary and secondary. Primary headaches are headaches that have no consistent organic cause. Secondary headaches are headaches that have an identifiable source and occur secondarily to other disease processes such as, being secondary to high blood pressure or to sinusitis. Primary headaches can be further divided into three basic types. Most of us are familiar with 2 of them, they are Tension headaches, Migraine headaches and the third being Cluster headaches.

How migraine headaches treated?

Migraine Headache Treatment includes therapies that may or may not involve medications. Other ways of getting Migraine Headache Relief are:

1. Stimulating the pressure points- There are two pressure points on each side of the spinal column and about two inches away from one another. These are situated a little lower to the base of the skull. To get Migraine Headache relief naturally, you just need to press or squeeze these two regions gently. This can even help you to relieve discomfort.

2. Lying down in a dim light room- One of the best ways for Migraine Headache relief is relaxing in a dimly lit room. It has been scientifically proved that most of the migraine sufferers are extremely sensitive to bright light so lying down in a room with dim light can eliminate symptoms brought on by this light sensitivity and finally one can slowly get rid of the Migraine Headaches.

3. Alleviating tense muscles through massage- A gently rub over some tight muscles of the neck, face, head and shoulders with your finger pads will help your nervous system to be relaxed. But you have to be firm and gentle and you have to rub the muscles in a circular pattern.

Irregularities of diet and excessive exertion must be avoided as it triggers Migraine Headaches. The diet should have low content of fats and oils. Avoiding hot, spicy foods, fermented foods, and sour or citrus fruits also helps in repelling Migraine Headaches from you. Resting in a quiet and darkened room is also recommended to get rid of the Migraine Headaches.
