Do you have a Backup plan? Do you have a source of income other than your current 9 to 5? If you answered "No" to both questions, then you fall into the same category as most people. The truth is many people are programmed for failure and mediocrity. In my opinion doing the same things and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. With that being said, I cannot help but wonder why so many people continue to rely on their "Job" as their only source of income.

It amazes me even more to see that during a recession when there are so many people losing jobs, vehicles, and homes, that people continue to search the classified Ads, and online sites for "Jobs". Why? I will tell you why. The reason for this foolishness is long term programming! I do not believe most people stop long enough to think! Why look for a job when there are not any jobs out there? Better yet, why look for a job when it was a "Job" which put you in the position that you are in now?

You are most likely programmed to work for someone else and in turn make them rich! Why not make yourself rich? You are programmed to believe working for someone else is what you are supposed to do. You are programmed to believe that starting a business is what "Other People" do. You are programmed to believe you are not smart enough, your credit is not good enough, and that you cannot begin the process alone.

If you think about it, this programming has been in progress since childhood. Why do the wealthy continue to get wealthy, and the poor remain poor? How is it that someone can win millions in the lottery and return to a life of "poverty"? If it has not connected for you yet, I am happy to enlighten you. The reason the wealthy, continue to get wealthy, and the poor, remain poor, is because these people are programmed differently.

If you are familiar with the book The Cashflow Quadrant, written by Robert Kiyosaki, he explains how people fall into four different Quadrants. The quadrants are employee, self employed, business owner, and investor. He also explains that people accumulate "wealth" in the Business owner and Investor quadrants. I realize that everyone has different goals. Financial freedom is my main goal. My "financial freedom" is inevitable. The reason I am able to make this statement with such confidence is because I was able to shift my paradigm.

I was able to analyze my current situation, as well as those around me. Realizing my weaknesses was the first step toward my path to financial freedom. Once I was able to be honest with myself about the bad habits that I had collected over the years, I was able to move forward with correcting them. For example, procrastination, as well as choosing the wrong friends were my biggest setbacks. I acknowledged my weaknesses and made a conscious decision to avoid allowing my weaknesses to defeat me.

I then chose to shed people in my life who I knew had become a hindrance. I evaluated each of the people that I was spending the majority of my time. I realized quickly that we were all very identical. We were making the same amount of money, had the same weaknesses, and were all broke and struggling! I not only performed this evaluation with my friends, but also with my family. I realized quickly that my family had also undergone this "programming" and we were continuing to program the next generation with the same lessons of failure! If I did not do something different, and do it quickly, I knew I would be broke and struggling all of my life!

I began shifting my paradigm. These changes were not easy. However, they were a must. I have now made a commitment to myself to befriend people who can be an asset in my life as well as I can be an asset in theirs. I no longer spend time with people who I feel do not add value to my life. I would rather spend my time with people who have the ability to assist me in my growth process. In order to cut to the chase, the individuals I am speaking of are smarter, wiser, and pockets are fatter.

I am not saying that money is everything. Although, I am saying money gives you more "options". Money gives you the option to live where you want to live, drive what you want to drive, send your children to the schools you want them to attend, and "help" those whom you want to help. I cannot wait to "give back".

I already know my heart, my dreams and goals. I also know I cannot give something I do not have! I am sure many of you reading this today are wonderful people with great intentions. However, I am sure many of you are "broke". I say that to create awareness for you. If you want out of your current situation, then I suggest you begin shifting your paradigm today. Again, I ask, "What is your Plan B?"
