Over the last couple of months, I have become increasingly interested in a healing modality called "Access Consciousness." It's a system of healing that is designed to bring us out of judgement, and into awareness and consciousness. It includes both hands on body work, and verbal enquiry processes that allow this to happen - and often the changes can be very quick!

At the weekend, I trained in the first Access Consciousness body process known as "the Bars". Access Consciousness founder, Gary Douglas, channeled the information about the bars over 20 years ago now. What came for him was that there are 32 points on the head (now called the bars); these points are a tool to help people to start functioning differently - to step more and more into a space of conscious creation of their lives.

The bars can be seen as the computer storage bank in the hard drive of our brains. And, just as our computer may have loads of stuff from the past that we don't need on it anymore, so it can be with the hard drive of our brains. The Access Consciousness literature says that your brain waves slow down when you have your bars run - and that this allows behavioural patterns, belief systems and points of view that are no longer serving you to be accessed. These can be from childhood experiences or even from past lives.

And for those of you who are interested in the biology of the body, science tells is that the shape of your cells actually changes to become more elliptical when they are influenced by thoughts, feelings and emotions - and this is the first step to disease. Having your bars run is said to unlock this impact on the cells, allowing them to return to their more spherical shape and facilitating more ease in the body.

There are points on the head for all different areas of our lives - for example for awareness, hopes and dreams, sadness and joy, healing, kindness gratitude peace and calm. The practitioner has her hands on your head in different positions - and each position covers 1 or more different areas of our lives. Simply holding the hands on these positions unlocks the limiting beliefs about that area of our lives.

So, that's the theory. What does it actually feel like to receive the bars? Well, bars practitioners say - at its worst you'll feel like you received an amazing massage, and at its best you'll feel like your whole life has been transformed!

So, how was it for me at the weekend? I found I went into a deep deep state of relaxation - and I know from my own experience of giving energy healings that it is in that relaxed state that deep healing and transformation occurs. I could tell that the healing work was accessing "stuff" that is deeply held in the psyche. I could feel for both my friend who I was working on and for me that there was release of energy from the past that we no longer needed. And I felt (and feel now 4 days later) energetically lighter and more free.

My sense is that this modality can be a powerful complement to the other healing work I do. I have written in other articles about how issues from the past are held in the body, and can be released through energy healing - and this is another way of doing that.

People are different and different techniques are more effective for some people than others, and also at different times of our lives. I'm delighted that I have found this system - and I really look forward to sharing it with other people.
