If you suffer from procrastination, then you are probably familiar with its effects. And you are also familiar with the "why did I leave this til the last minute" feeling. You might have promised yourself that, next time, you will not put off such important tasks again. But, later on, you find that you have repeated same thing again.

Why do we put off certain tasks? Well, it all boils down to the feelings and beliefs we have about these tasks.

Let's say you're looking at your to-do list. You are reading your list, and all looks fine so far. As you read on, you come across one or two tasks that give you some kind of an uneasy feeling. So you think "Ok, umm, maybe I can do these some other time". Then your mind starts to rationalize how it's ok to complete these tasks later because they are really not that urgent. Once you have made this decision, you have procrastinated.

If you look back at what just happened, the reason you put off these tasks was because of the uneasy feeling that you got when you thought about completing them.

Since EFT is great when it comes to removing uncomfortable feelings, then you can certainly use it to overcome the root cause of your procrastination.

Tapping on the KC point: "Even though I don't feel like doing this right now, I deeply and completely love and accept myself"

Or by using the choices method: "Even though I don't feel like doing this right now, I choose to actually find it enjoyable to do it right now"

Then you tap on the rest of the points while repeating "I don't feel like doing it right now".

Finally, do another round saying "I choose to find it enjoyable to do these tasks right now", for example.

Most of the time, the uneasy feeling will go away. You can now imagine yourself completing this tasks without any uneasy feelings coming up.

What I talked about here can be help for people who usually put off specific kinds of tasks. For example, I used to always put off packing my bags before traveling. I would only pack my stuff about 15 minutes before leaving to the airport. Then I would find myself in a hurry, rushing to get all my things packed and worried that I had forgotten to pack something. That continued until I tapped on this feeling of "not liking to pack". Apparently I had some underlying beliefs about packing, but I can leave that to another article :)
