SHARING A FEW UPLIFTING AND INSPIRATIONAL* THOUGHTS (THE BUILDING BLOCKS FOR A NEW "WORK")

See a “new work” take shape and form

* At least they are to me

These are some notes that I've made recently (from my "little red book"), which is forming the basis, the frame-work, the building-blocks for a new manuscript that's currently "writing itself". (So I don't know the direction and how my story will "play out" in the end). Perhaps I'll include these key words, ideas, concepts, threads (stop - enough there now, craig). So will share with you and post extracts (hopefully regularly) on my Wordpress blog (craiglock.wordpress.com) as I write it. Hopefully I'll continue getting my "daily dose of inspiration" (sometimes in the "very early hours). Enjoy...

"A man plans his course;
but the Lord determines his steps."

You can't change the past, but you can plan the future.

"We learn far more from our tears than from our laughter."
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that really matter."
- Dr Martin Luther King, Jnr

from www.drmartinlutherking.wordpress.com

"We can all be great; because we can all serve."
- Mother Teresa

"Keep true to the dreams of your youth."
- Friedrich Schiller, German writer and philosopher

"Try not to become a man (or woman) of success, but a person of value."
- Albert Einstein

SPORT (my great passion... after my family)
The power of sport to make a difference in the world - to unite people through healing divisions and by by building bridges between different cultures and nations.
Union between nations through sport.

"I, we are committed to the positive values found in sport: Performance and passion, team-work and fair-play."
Sport gives hope to people.

Religion divides; whereas truth unites (ie. unity in truth)
Truth overcomes power... always.

"Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will."
- Mahatma Gandhi (and Lance Armstrong)

From www.youcanbeachampion.wordpress.com

"I don’t consider myself a hero. I’m an ordinary girl, who believed in her dream. You don’t have to be someone special to achieve something amazing, You’ve just got to have a dream, believe in it and work hard. I hope that my voyage proves what can be achieved by setting your mind to something.”

- powerful and inspirational words from Australia’s newest hero, 16-year old round the world sailor, Jessica Watson (the youngest sailor to circum-navigate* the globe)

* now that's a big word, craig

On the epitaph of Abdurrahman Wahid (1940 - 30/12/2009) former Indonesian President are written these words:

"Here lies a humanist."
"The truly great lift the human spirit to be more than it is."

"It is better to light a candle, than curse the darkness...
a darkness that we will illuminate with our hearts."

The strength of spirit in the human heart. The love of God made manifest.

God's greatest gift to us is to find our own truths.
Everyone has the capacity, the potential to manifest God's ultimate nature.

"It is better to light a candle, than curse the darkness...
a darkness that we will illuminate with our hearts."

Writing

Writers challenge (continually) themselves and their readers in new ways - they find new niches.

I'm deeply concerned about the human moral condition (but don't be too serious now please, craig). Hardly likely with the life I lead!.

I write about the 'essence of humanity' (the 'literature of humanity'). In my stories I want to impel some kind of action in readers, like trying to break down barriers (political, social, economic and religious) in some small way.

Religion divides; but truth unites (ie. unity in truth).
The way we live is far more important than what we believe (but then what we believe will determine how we live, so perhaps they are inter-linked???).
We are all connected by the common bond of our shared humanity

'Khatib' is the Arab word (name) for writer

I try to show the extra-ordinary in 'ordinary' (what's that?) lives, as revealed by the generous spirits and the exceptional strength and courage of so many ordinary people in their daily struggles along the sometimes very hard; yet of so satisfying journey that is called life.

I try to show the extra-ordinary in ordinary lives, - as revealed by the generosity of spirit and the courage of seemingly'ordinary' people, as they struggle with the daily trials and tribulations of the incredible journey, that we call life.

"I was like floating on a cloud of infinite possibilities." (that's a simile, btw!)

MY NEW BOOK

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that really matter."
- Dr Martin Luther King, Jnr

"For evil to succeed, it is enough that good men do nothing."
(anyone know whose inspirational words those are??)

Dedication:
"I love you in the very special way that I've written about in these pages."

"To all of us who believe love rules, stand up and let it shine."

A TRUE story of renewal and transformation: a transformation of heart with eternal truths. Hope for a new beginning - one not divided by the past but with hope for the future. In a phrase, A NEW HEART.

Themes of:

* the search for justice

"If I must choose between righteousness and peace, I choose righteousness."
- Franklin Roosevelt

“Justice without force is powerless; force without justice is tyrannical.”
- some famous leader said that (anyone know whom?)

"Those who stand up for justice will always be on the right side of history."
- Dr Martin Luther King, Jnr

From www.drmartinlutherking.wordpress.com

* Building bridges of reconciliation ("threads of hope") , At least trying to!
Truth overcomes power... always

* forgiveness:

"Lord, give me (us) forgiveness for the past, strength for today... and hope for the future."

"If you cannot do great things, then do little things in a great way."
- Mother Teresa

"The past is history... the future a mystery."

* the strength of spirit in the human heart ... the indomitable and un quenchable human spirit

"The task ahead of you can always be overcome by the power within you...and the often seemingly difficult or even "impassible") path ahead of you is never as steep with the great spirit that lies within you."

"We have it within; but we get it all from without. There is a well-spring of strength, wisdom, courage and great imagination within each one of us; but once we draw on this truth, it gets watered from without, by a Higher Source - the Ultimate Source of Life and Love, which is God, the very Ground of our Being."

"Our Greatest Good is perhaps not to share our material possessions, our money and 'riches' with others, but through faith in other people, to so lay the foundation to reveal the rich treasure that lies within themselves."
- c
From www.craigsquotes.wordpress.com

* Hope is irresistable. Plant seeds (threads) of hope:
In my latest "works" love and hope strive for expression... even amidst the despair and darkness of the world (oh so serious now, craig!)

"From seeds of hope to endless possibilities, far and grand horizons."
www.beliefhope.wordpress.com

* the redemptive power of love

"Power without love is reckless and abusive. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice."
- Dr Martin Luther King, Jnr

"To all of us who believe love rules...
stand up and let it shine."

"Love rather than be loved,
in forgiving we give...
and in dying we are given eternal life."
- Mother Teresa (again)

* Replant the roots of peace

"Wars are poor chisels for carving out a peaceful tomorrow."
- Martin Luther King, Jnr

"Peace is the greatest weapon for development, that any people can have."
- Nelson Mandela

From www.mandelamadiba.wordpress.com

"Together, one mind, one soul at a time, let's see how many hearts can be transformed from hatred into love... with God's help, of course (as only God can do that, but each one of us can be a channel for God's Infinite Love for humanity).
*
Let your spirit shine through these words. Embrace the Light (Infinite ) and shine Your bright light on the world

"Many small (yet significant) steps by many 'little people with big hearts' will eventually reach their destination, their destiny (unique destinies).

"In the midst of darkness, light exists."
- Mahatma Gandhi

However, it is a darkness that we will illuminate with our hearts.

Each ONE of us can help shine the bright light that overcomes the darkness
