Tata Nexon: The Next-On Compact SUV From Tata Motors

With cross over Hexa, compact sedan Tigor and now compact SUV Nexon, domestic car maker has successfully completed the hat trick in Indian car market this year. The foundation of the success enjoyed by this trio this year was laid last year with the launch of hatchback Tiago which emerged as the game changer for home grown car maker washing out all the memories yester years’ failures. Well talking about the recently launched compact SUV Nexon which was showcased during Indian Auto Expo 2014 the new compact SUV from Tata Motors is endorsed to as the next step in the journey of car in auto industry. Therefore without wasting much time let us find the features that are offered finally in the Tata Nexon. Engine: Under the hood Nexon is offered in both petrol and diesel variants. Encouraged from the success enjoyed by the elder siblings of Nexon domestic car maker has not left any stone unturned to create any obstacle in the path of its success that the company has been enjoying since last year. Therefore going through the cut throat competition in the segment Tata has introduced turbocharged engine in both the variants. The petrol variant is empowered with 1.2 litre while the diesel in energized with 1.5 litre turbocharged engines. Both the engines generates the power of 109 bhp followed by the torque of 170Nm and 260Nm respectively and mated with newly introduced TA6300 six speed manual gear transmission system. It is offered three driving modes namely Eco, City and Sport. Interiors: As the Tata Nexon is developed on Tiago’s platform it carries lots of its cues from Tiago and this could be witnessed from the presence of steering wheel and instrument cluster which are outsourced from Tiago. The perfect combination of plastics on the dashboard along with black fabric seats grabs the attention of passenger as soon as he enters in. The spacious cabin is further enhanced with large headroom and leg room for the rear passengers. The comfortable seats are quite enough to offer relaxed travel during the long journey. Other features offered inside the cabin are 6.5 inch HD touchscreen with floating dashboard. The touchscreen infotainment system supports connectivity Android Auto whereas Apple CarPlay can be linked through OTA updates. The voice command further enhances its functionality. The most interesting feature offered inside the interior for the first time in segment is waterproof key which could be worn on the wrist. Exteriors: Like interiors the exteriors will undoubtedly fascinate at first instance. The front fascia receives the black colored honeycomb grille with chrome garnished slats moving towards the projector lamps with DRLs. The uniqueness of exterior is however the white strip over the shoulder line. One more thing that will grab you attention is grey colored D-pillar which carries resemblance to Range-Rover Evoque. Moving towards the rear portion it would not be wrong to say that although presence of white strip moving towards the LED tail lamps make the rear attractive, but still the absence of chrome work is missed. The tailgate and rear bumpers help in completing the absence of chrome to certain extent. Handling: The straight line ability of Nexon facilitates the driver to turn the SUV in desired direction smoothly. The front disc and rear drum brakes offers effective braking control over the vehicles. Driving Nexon on the rugged terrains is quite interesting and easy.
