The Killer Website
Written by Menno Spijkstra
It’s very important for every business to have a website. Maybe you’re selling rare Tibetan mushrooms or the latest, high end gadgets, you have to find a way to bring your products closer to your potential customers or clients. And what better way there is than to have a website? Millions of people around the world go online everyday.
Now the question is how to attract buyers to purchase products online? First and foremost is to carefully plan what you want to do with your homepage. Most websites crash because careful and strategic planning has not been done. Nobody bothers to visit because either it’s boring or it’s just very difficult to go around, confusing.
We should take into consideration both the long term and the short term goals you want to achieve. Ask yourself: What do I want with my website? Start from this premise and work your way up. Make your website a reflection of the products or services you are promoting. The next thing you should take into consideration is the content.
Good website content attracts people and gets referrals. That’s free organic traffic for you. Run SEO so that your site will come out in searches. Your homepage design is another thing you should work on. Did you know that it takes an individual less than five seconds to either stay or to go elsewhere just by looking initially at the design of your website? The design is the deciding factor.
Then make your website interactive. Have forums or chat rooms where people can share ideas about your products or services, offer recommendations or endorsements. These interactive snippets will also help you in products enhancements, improvements or will help you decide what products or services you should launch next. You get first hand feedbacks from your clients and remember that forums or chat rooms offer the most honest and objective reviews of your products.
Involve your customers in the decisions you make, you have to cater their wants and their needs. Make your website easy to browse through and user friendly. People will not stay if they find it hard to go around. Your homepage navigation system should direct them easily where you want them to go.
Ask someone to test it before your actual launch. Place breadcrumbs in every page to help your visitors go back where they started. Never forget to do follow ups on your opt-ins. These already are your potential customers. Your products and/or services have captured their attention and you have to do follow up to further entice them to buy and do not stop building your mailing list.
Promote your website. Do the special internet marketing magic to let the world know you exist. Do online promotion as well as off line. This will increase your chances drastically. Most importantly, maintain your website. If you have enough resources, get someone to do it for your. The online business is a very lucrative business and changes almost every day.
You have to keep up lest you will be left behind. Regularly send everyone in your mailing list short emails about your latest promo, discounts or any interesting news happening to your business. You have to impress people with excellent content and a nice homepage. Make visiting your homepage a delight and keep them coming back.
